i wouldnt worry with that movie, full of lies and distortions, maybe dell included a lie filter on the 6000. But your laptop should have came with a decoder software. check the cds that came with it.

My I6000 came with PowerDVD, same as my Dell desktop. You can see if you have that and try and update it if it needs it.

Software needed...

You cannot simply download the DVD codecs from some anonymous spot. Instead, go to the Dell webpage for your model, and they should have the DVD software available for download.

You will not be able to watch a DVD without it.
I'm trying to find the link. I'll post it if I find it...

Place to start...

Well, here's a place to start. I don't have an Inspirion, so I couldn't get any further...

http://support.dell.com/support/down...ex.aspx?~ck=mn

Hopefully that will help a bit!

MANY of the free DVD players out there are completely infested with spyware or adware.
Don't risk it.
You can get WinDVD or PowerDVD off of eBay for under $10 shipped.

This isn't free. The one I recommended was the original software from Dell (most likely WINDVD or something like it) that they ship with the Laptops that ship with DVD players. You will not be able to download the software unless you have the Laptop, and most of the time, the software is crippled anyway, so that it will only run on the manufacturer's system.

I would recommend the software from Dell. If you have a Dell laptop, it's best to get their drivers for it. That's just my opinion, but it's free and should be safe.

Not sure why you quoted me but ok.....
The Dell software is apparently unavailable (it ain't on the website) so what else do you suggest?
I suggested getting a legal licensed copy from eBay.
It most likely won't be the latest version but then neither would the Dell version.
The dell version would be a crippled OEM version.
