Why can't you serve Eric, your in University aren't you old enough?

I may serve in the good old CAF, the Navy if it's possible in Ontario. Atleast if I join the Canadian Forces the chances of me having to fight are well, slim. Hopefully I'd just get sent over to Cyprus or Germany to fix communications equipment.

I'd join so I could proudly serve my country ofcourse, that and a free University education is really nothing to sneeze at, but it's mostly the pride I can take in saying that I served my country.

USMC 82-86. 2 years in Southern Cal just outside LA(MCAS El Toro), 2 in VA; Little Creek, Norfolk and Camp Elmore. MCAS El Toro is no longer there, but, I had a blast.

I'm considering Air Force, wouldn't be that far for me to go to CFB North Bay or CFB Kingston.

I think it would be pretty cool to be up in CFB Northbay, it's like Canada's version of Cheyenne Mountain, considering it's where our NORAD base is located and it located underground. Aswell it's where we keep our stargate, but keep that on the downlow.

Never served myself. My Grandfather was in the Navy and Father was in the Air Force.

I turned down an appointment to the Air Force academy to pursue civilian offers.

Jpmarth,
were you considering going to the Air Force academy, because if i am not mistaken it takes quite a bit to obtain appointment to the academy, like having a senator sponsor you.

Yes, it does take quite a bit. It was a process that lasted almost two years. I spent a lot of time getting my self ready physicaly. But, in the end it just wasn't the right path for me. I don't regret not taking the appointment as I enjoy what I am doing very much.
