During my recent vacation to Florida, I have went to Universal Studios and got to see Fear Factor there.
I was expecting the visual quality to be better than that of current video cards. I was disappointed, though, as the quality is not much better than that of a 64MB GeForce 4 (with good drivers; there's no comparison when buggy drivers are involved). There was also nothing in the way of lots of visual details. I wanted to see Kristen covered in worms, but it did not happen. That's when computers start having difficulties with the details involved.
It's still amazing how modern PCs can get video quality that is almost as good as real life. Just compare the real life Fear Factor to the computer rendered Fear Factor.

ok nice. can any of us actually have this app yet? we always hear of it but only from you - we never see it anywhere else, and there's always a reason we can't have it. I challenge anyone on this site to get hold of a copy.
I think the Beta test is limited to the tech group

You can't download the real life version. You have to actually go to Universal Studios.
For the PC version, I have the URI.

And yes, I've been to universal studios. However I didn't see anything about rendering real life quality benchmarks on an outdated graphics card.
I guess that you went to Universal Studios before Fear Factor had a real life attraction there (Fear Factor Live). It's a real life attraction just like any other attraction. You go there and watch it just like how you watch football in real life. The only computers involved are those behind the scenes. What was once just a video card benchmark is now also an attraction at Universal Studios. Fear Factor Live is not a benchmark because there really isn't anything to benchmark.
I just said that a GeForce 4 can render Fear Factor with a quality very close to that of a real scene (but not quite).
