No, you're not the only Tiger fan out there. I was born and raised in Windsor so for many, many years I lived and died with the Tigers.

It's just so, so depressing. I recall the line from "Bull Durham", 'what's our record', '8-16', '8-16, how did we win 8 games?' 'it was a miracle'.....for the 2003 edition of the Tigers the miracle is they've won one game.

:crooked:

The good news, there's still hope.

I'm a Red Sox fan. Ok, stop laughing everyone! C'mon, I've lived in Massachusetts my entire life - other than a year in Santa Barbara. You HAVE to love the Sox.

The Sox would be ok this year if they could just get an entirely new bullpen and a couple more starting pitchers.

Not sure about Detroit. I would love to see them turn it around and win 8 straight. It's pretty boring to have teams that just can't compete, and turn into punching bags for the rest of the league.

I'm another long-suffering red sox fan , and I'm not known for my optimism about them, but this year's team could definitely make the playoffs without too much trouble. Their offense is more than solid, their starting pitching is far above average (it's not the Yankees', but whose is?), and it seems that their relief pitching is coming around. If everyone stays healthy, they'll be in it in September at least.
:D

Yankee fan!

Born and raised in Connecticut when the Yanks had a team (I mean Yogie, Moose, Mickey, Vic, Allie, Hank, Elston, Clete, Roger, Casey). Now for the last names: Berra (Catcher), Skowren (First Base), Mantle (Center Field), Rachie (Pitcher), Reynolds (Pitcher), Bauer (Right Field), Howard (Backup Catcher), Boyer (Third Base), Maris (Left Field), Stengel (Manager)).

Oh, I forgot... Gene Woodling (Outfield), Ryne Duran (Relief Pitcher), Gil McDougald (Shortstop), Whity Ford (Pitcher), Don Larsen (Pitcher - Perfect Game in the 1956 World Series!!) etc, etc.

Question? Who played second base for these 1950's Yankees?

Another question? Who was Mel Allen? What beer was New York's favorite then?

OK! I have aged myself...I was 12 years old and watching this team on an 10" TV (black and white, of course). Their influence on me got me to semi-pro ball in the 70's.

Anybody know the answers to the three questions above?

Tony

Ah, you darn Giants fans! I'm a Dodgers fan myself, and I'm a bit frustrated with the way the boys in blue have been playing lately... Especially against the Giants. At least when you lose by 10 runs, you can deal with it and say, "Okay, we lost." But, when you lose three games in a row by a single run, it's a bit frustrating. heh..

Ah well, hopefully things will start looking up. :crooked:
