Experiences with warranty? :)

Hi
my new Axim X30 (the 624mhz model) arrived yesterday, my first PDA and I think i'v made the right decision, mainly brought it as a GPS solution along with tomtom 5 s/w but maybe i'll discover useful features of it as a PDA.

Anyway, I took out a 2 year warranty on it (2 year next business day exchange), I just wanted to ask if any of you have used this service, I have heard some bad things about dell support and I can still cancel my warranty if needed (have 45 days or something), I mean have any of you ever needed to phone dell and make a claim on an extended warranty?, if so how was the service.

Any experiences of other members will be very appreciated, I brought the 2 year cover as I spent quite a lot of money on the PDA and want it to last at least 2 years! (hopefully a lot longer) however if the worst does happen I need to know dell stand by there warranties properly.

Thx a lot guys :)

I'd keep it. Be VERY carefule not to bend the pins constantly connecting and disconnecting power cord (I assume you will run external power in car with GPS.)

My pins bent to hell in 10 mos and Dell refuses to acknowledge their design flaw. Search this board ... pin issues on X30 are significant.

If you have complete care, then they will replace. Otherwise, they say FU!

The headphone jack on my X50v failed on me (2 months into warranty). I phoned up Dell, spoke with a Canadian, and within 5 minutes (this includes hold time), was informed a replacement Axim would be sent by August 5 (I called them yesterday).

Today I came home from work, and the replacement was here already -- complete with a prepaid shipping label. I put the old Axim in the box, and just have to phone UPS to pick up my package.

Overall, Dell support gets an A+ rating from me. Great job guys. :)

One could probably attribute this to the Cannadian. Usually when people talk to people from Asia they can't get anything across.

I'v got NBD cover (next business day)
surely if the pins get bent they should cover it, how is that your fault, dont like the sound of it.
maybe I should of taken out accidental damage cover on it as well.

only reason why I didnt was because another company in the small print had mentioned that if i accidentally damage the covered item then it gets replaced with a refurbished one, but if it goes wrong by itself then i get a new one.

need to give dell a phonecall and see how they handle things, emailed them 2 days ago and I still havent got a reply
