It's official, Palm OS is no more, Palm switches to windows mobile

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000840053340/
Well, engadget got a tip from some guy who got ahold of a Treo 670 and apparently, it's running Windows Mobile. From the videos, it looks like Windows Mobile 5, not sure though.

Interesting use of the word 'official'...

... but seeing as they don't have a new OS of their own I suppose they have to do something

That is truly shocking and sad. Competition produces better and cheaper products for us. This will hurt windows users as well as palm os users. On the other hand, it will help the palm company and will provide some cool products to windows users. Will sony get back in the game now?

Seriously, I totally agree. I think this is a bad thing for all users. The Palm OS library of programs was incredibly big.

Dargh, bad, very very bad. With no major competitor, Micky$haft will discontinue development of their mobile operating system as they did with IE (until competition in a foxy form reared it's head).

Although I never really liked Palm, I do have to agree that lack of competion won't be good for any of us.

Without a competitor, M$ has basically the whole PPC/PDA market to themselves and we don't want Mr. Bill to a complete strangle hold on us!

BRING BACK PALM! If only to try to keep M$ from completely running amok!

Yeah, I agree with Joe, is there any real proof like a press release or something?
