Like it's been mentioned above, the United States of America does not have an official language. Besides it's obvious that the official language of McDonalds is $$$. So I'm sure they carefully designed their coupons and wrappers and such to entice people to spend as much money as possible with them. :p

No matter the language of the wrapper, Rotten Ronnie's still tastes like crap.

I know that Canada was basically started by France.
At First it was called New France, but the British fought the French and it was then settled by the British. It's a British Settled mostly British country. I'd love to go into detail and mention Issac Brock and such, but I don't have it in me.
I can understand the shock you must have suffered... imagine waking up one day and finding that not everyone speaks the same language as you! and what's worse they expect to be able to do it in public.
Still look on the bright side.. at least it's not Welsh

you guys aren't reading this correctly. Spanish is put on the coupon BEFORE English. It use to be the English was BEFORE Spanish.
English IS the offical language of america not Spanish.
i don't mind spanish being on coupons manuals whatever but when it comes BEFORE English then it becomes a problem.
And I am offended when someone in Georgia or anywhere in AMERICA fails to capitalize the unofficial name for this multi-lingual country. Who said that English was our Official language? Please have some sensitivity about his or you sound like a hick from Georgia with a truck up on blocks and two dogs under the front porch.
People living in the United States of America should be so lucky that they live in a place where one can choose which language she or he chooses to speak. From scrolling through the wiki it appears that the UK, US and Denmark don't have official languages. Now that doesn't mean that other countries don't allow or are intolerant of other languages, it means the
Quote:
language that is given a unique legal status in the countries, states, and other territories. It is typically the language used in a nation's legislative bodies, though the law in many nations requires that government documents be produced in other languages as well.
Now is putting dual languages on a coupon a bad thing? I don't think it is at all. If it helps people get 50 cents off their Chicken McNuggets then so be it.
As Bob Dylan put it so eloquently, "the times, they are a changin"
I also challenge anyone to find on a offical United States National Government website, where it acknowledges or denounces a offical language. I couldn't find one.

Like it or not you better get used to the "browning of America".
I heard a report yesterday that three states; Texas, California and either Nevada or New Mexico was now MAJORITY hispanic, but there were there first weren't they...thus the hispanic state names!
FWIW, I don't really care as long as they enter the country legally (BIG ISSUE) and support the values of this country. Afterall, unless you are a Native American, you or your ancestors came from somehere else. The major difference was that immigrants used to forbid their children from speaking their native language to promote integration into the society (not a bad idea) but it also left many with a foreign surname and no ability to speak their ancestoral language (bad idea).
OMG people you aren't getting it. First I'm not a hick, I was born in Cali, and grew up in chicago and fl and now here in GA. I'm not against Spanish the language or the people, one of my best friends is half belize. I'm not against a bilingual speaking country. I'm against people(whoever they are, be it spanish, asian(im part that), european,........) who come here and ignore the language.
English is the offical language. If your here in the US or have been did you see spanish on any road signs? did you see any spanish on government papers? did you see any spanish on the products sold here(Actually on the product, not the packaging or manuals,....)????
English is the Offical language of the US. and Yes Spanish is the second most spoken language here.
I'm against people who come here and wont' learn the OFFICAL language.
