You read right, Canada's Justice Minister today announced plans to introduce new "lawful access" legislation next month. The proposed law will require ISPs to install new surveillance capabilities and give law enforcement the right to demand personal information without a warrant. I could easily see this happening in the states, with your Carnivore system and Patriot Act. I didn't really see this kind of thing happening up here. I'm not sure if I'm that for or against it, I mean it's good in that it will catch those doing illicit things, but having everything you do loged is an infringement on liberty.
What does anybody else think about this?
