It would be neat for the blinds if?

They were given a GPS device to use while travelling. They would be able to listen to the streets name and directions as they walk or been driven by. Of course it would have to be a voice activated device too.

If someone would put together a "screen" that uses little metal posts that go up and down to simulate braille. Then they could have an ebook reader to go as well. Would work well for command line as well. Along with that, you could input all sorts of things, like an MP3 player, voice recoginition and other input/output methods that don't require sight.

I think they already have something like that. It was in that hacking movie "Sneakers". The one hacker was blind and used something like you said to use his computer. It was an older movie and he was old school so it was command line.

I like Frenchy idea, but using a headset and preprogramed software and Axim along with GPS could tell the person when to turn lft or right and gget him to where he wants to go.
