Pocketmac problems

Hey everyone
I am glad I found this site, maybe now I will be able to start using my Aximx50v.

tuesday, I received my x50v, I own a g4 ibook, and soon found out I needed Pocketmac 3.5 so my x50v and my mac will communicate.

After installing my x50v would show up as no device, or no connection to my mac.

I since have installed pocketmac and reinstalled it, and followed all of their trouble shooting guidleines to try and fix the problem.

I don't know what to do, I just spent 40+ dollars for pocketmac.
Does anyone know what I might do so my computer will reconize my x50v. So they connect.

Ultimetly I want to download some movies to a sd card for my x50, and some pictures of my baby girl.

Thanks
Hoberly

I don't know the answer but have you confirmed that pocketmac 3.5 is ok with Bith you version of OS X and the X50? They should have some compatibilty lists.

I only wish I knew how to get my mac to see the pocket pc. I have a digital camera and mp3's and I have never had a problem with, any of them. This is the first issue I have run into with my computer

Did you contact the developers of Pocket Mac? They might be your best bet. I'd guess the majority of Pocket PC owners also are Windows users.

I have been e-mailing them for days now and have yet to hear a response. I have spokn with a very friendly women, yet she seems to have a limited knowledge, of the x50v. She has directed me torwards the tech support, (which is the people I have been E-mailin for days). So now I am just reaching out hoping to solve the issue. Now it is the weekend andI don't know if anyone from Pocketmac support is available, they weren't at 5pm.

MissingSync is another option if you can't get things moving with PocketMac.

You'd want to get your money back first of course :)

I often have problems getting PocketMac to recognize my Axim X30, especially if the computer has been running for a while. PocketMac will not recognize my PocketPC unless the small PocketMac icon appears in the Menu Bar. To get this to appear, I have to click on the PocketMac alias icon in the Dock. I usually wait for the Menu Bar icon to appear and then plug the Axim (turned off) into the USB dock or the USB cable (depending on which computer I am using). This should wake the Axim and after a short wait a message about authentication appears and PocketMac connects (the black screen in the PocketMac icon turns to white).

If I have been running the computer for a while I typically cannot get PocketMac to recognize the Axim. Usually rebooting will help. I am not sure just what is happening, but this works most of the time. I run PocketMac on an iMac G4 Flat Panel (15"/800 MHz) and a PowerBook G4/1.33 GHz, both are running Mac OS X v10.4.2. The Mac seems to see the PocketPC, at least it shows up in System Profiler as 'vend_device', even when PocketMac does not see the device.

While PocketMac works for me, it does have a number of issues. I cannot get Internet pass-through to work. Calendar synch with iCal will often result in duplicated entries and a bunch of entries on 30 November 1999. Contacts does not always pick up changes on the Mac. I find my best results come if I back up my iCal database (File -> Back up Database...), just in case things get hosed, and delete the appointments on my PocketPC (I use Pocket Informant to accomplish this task). Of course, this means I have a one-way synch (Mac to PocketPC). If my iCal database gets screwed up, I can revert to the backup and try again.

Not perfect but can't you just get an SD card reader/writer for the Mac, they are cheap and faster than the USB to X50 connection.

I tried out Pocket Mac Lite with an HP3850 and that seemed to work. So, when I got my X50v, I upgraded to PocketMac Pro. Now everytime I launch PM Pro, I get a kernel panic. So far no solution from tech support except re-install--which didn't help.

In the meantime, I tried Missing Sync. I can sync, but there are other probems with that product. Not sure what to do now and it sounds like things will get worse with WM5 as the ability to do a wireless sync goes away and so far that is the most reliable method of connection using Missing Sync.

I use Pocket MacPro. I was going through a time a month or so ago when I was having great difficulty getting pocket mac pro to see my axim. Usually rebooting the iBook and soft reseting the axim did the trick.

I hope that works for you.

I tried using PocketMac Pro twice with my x3i and iMac running 10.3.9. Both times I gave up frustrated. LoL. PocketMac was nice enough to return my money.

Use the Missing Sync. It's much better software.
