By "integrated USB", I mean that it could connect to a USB port with only a passive cable (e.g. a regular USB cable, not one with proprietary circuits inside). I modded my TI-83 Plus to have a normal USB B connector. It's a lot easier to find a standard USB A-B cable than a special TI cable. This also means that I only need one USB A-B cable for the calculator, Ashlee Simpson MCU development board, and some other USB gadgets, as long as I only need to use one at a time. I have some more USB A-B cables in a drawer just in case I need to use more than one at a time. At the same time, I have installed a charger circuit in the calculator so the USB port charges it.
BTW, the TI-84s have a mini USB port, which is pretty standard for a lot of portable equipment. The unmodified TI-83s only have a serial link connector and need a special cable to connect to a PC.
Now, does anyone know if a TI-83 or TI-84 can act as a 1-Wire bus master? I know a friend who has asked about the exact same thing. I suppose that it's possible, and it could provide a very easy and cheap way to collect and analyse real world data. (1-Wire is a simple bus standard that allows a single pair of wires to interface with a lot of devices.)
Uh... is that still classified as a standard calculator now?
:rolling: Might become not sat approved because of extra communication stuff in it... ^_^ SEE!?! thats a com port you must be using it for wireless communications!!
ehehe
I use a TI86... really fun when the programs in the book are written for the TI83+
I used the TI-85 back in my school days (showing my age), which is now the TI-86, I presume. Excellent machine. Once I learned how to use its full functionality it totally rocked. I can see why schools may not allow the TI-86. I was using my TI-85 while the other students used the TI-81 and I could run circles around what there calculator could do.
Where can i get this HP48GX emulator for my ppc?? (i need it for school)
Try this:
http://www.hpcalc.org/hp48/pc/emulators/
Look for Emu48 for Pocket PC 2003 1.23f.
Also, look at their faceplates and kml scripts. There is one for landscape mode.
its easier to use a ti graphing calc as your whole class will use it, plus it has a lot of hard buttons that are easier to use and find in a hurry :approve:

I believe you have to use the serial cable to transfer the files to your pc. I haven't tried it with the Axim yet, but I think the IR is not operational. Each manufacturer's PPC's, if I am not mistaken, have different systems for IR, so it would be difficult to develop for them all. Somebody let me know if this is untrue. A quick check of the emulator shows that the send/receive function works, but I have no way of telling right now if the IR is actually on. Remind me to try it with my 48GX when I get home.
