Free, Tentative, Busy, Out of Office...

Okay, it's pretty sad, I'm been using PIM for quiet sometime, and only now I realized I have no idea what to put on STATUS:

FREE: Does it mean, I'm free, and I can attend to that appoinment?

TENTATIVE: I maybe free, but not sure...

BUSY: Busy, which means I can't go to that appoinment?

Out of Office:

Can anyone explain what each one means...

Thanks.

Well we share calendars in the office so the codes suddenly be lot more useful, And since outlook is used for aranging meetings with each other it goes something like this

FREE: I have something going on but I don't have to be there

BUSY: I'm doing this so can't come to your meeting

TENTATIVE: I maybe free doing this or I may be busy, but not sure, so I may refuse to come to your meeting at the last second

Out of Office: I want to avoid your meeting so much that I am leaving the building

Here's how I use them.

Free: I often put appointments or activities for my staff or family on my calendar--just so i know what's going on. e.g. my wife's work schedule.

Tentative: My boss, or some one else asks me to hold two possible dates for a meeting. They both go on my calendar as "tentative" until one becomes "busy" and the other is deleted.

Busy: I have a meeting, appointment or activity inside the building.

Out of Office: I have a meeting, appointment or activity at another location.

My new favorite quote (attrributed to Mark Twain, although i haven't been able to confirm the attribution or the wording):

"Those who don't read the newspaper are uninformed.
Those who do read the newspaper are missinformed."
