I don't see why it's harsh. It's not really a specific x50 post, is it? It's just about you using your PDA to distract yourself from the rigours of exercise. Hence the water fountain.

Wouldn't it be easier to put your bike in front of the TV instead? Why squint watching a 3.7" screen, when you can watch the same shows on your TV?

Seriously, working out is not that hard. I have been doing it for the past 16 years of my life. I currently go 4 days a week religiously. It's kind of a sickness.

Music usually works better for me, but just remember to get it done ASAP.

I go straight to the gym after work. If I were to go home first, I would never go to the gym.

If you have to work out at home, then make a routine and STICK TO IT.

Schedule your workouts for the same time each day and make the time excercizing reasonable. If it's just cardio, try 30 minutes at first and work your way up to 45-60 minutes. Anything over 60 minutes is a waste. Once you can easily do 60 minutes, then adjust the resistance and start back at 30 minutes.

Thanks for the advice. :) It's an ruddy old thing that makes an awful noise when I work out on it; I wouldn't be able to hear the TV at all.

Why not install a generator on the bike to power some equipment?
BTW, I can easily generate about 4A at 12v for quite a while (or, as a demonstrator found out when the generator fuse blew, over 10A for a short time). Use that power to recharge a battery and 30 minutes of exercise can power a 12w load for two hours. (The Axim is a 13.5w load worst case from the specs of the PSU.)

Oh, should I mention that my favorite exercise is to dust electronic equipment with a bicycle pump? I realized that those cans of compressed air are really, really overpriced so I bought a bicycle pump to make some compressed air. It works just as well and turns out to be much cheaper in the long run. I also get quite a workout in the process!

And I still remember about the tesla coil that was powered by a modified exercise bicycle. A motor was modified to operate as a generator and that powered the flyback transformer and oscillator. (Interestingly enough, a 9v battery was initially needed to provide the initial field, but the builder then took apart the motor, drilled a small hole in the inside of the stator, and glued a magnet there to substitute for the battery.) I was able to get some really impressive sparks from the coil, but the award went to Tiffany (a friend of mine).

Cool I use my Ax30h all the time to exercise

It's great to see others getting the maximum for their investment like I do.

Whereas I have never strapped my Ax30h to any excercise equipment to watch video (and probably never would, I'd just turn on the telly), I do use it to listen to music while I'm at the gym (3-4 times per week every week) either using GSPlayer or WMP with PlayListEditor and a 512k sd card and my hour at the gym just flies by as I'm jamming to my favorite music.

I posted to another thread http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=96179 where some of our brethren were telling a newbie he/she should not use the x50v for something like using it to listen to MP3's while working out.

Balderdash as the above link and photos illustrate. We all should be seeking ways to gett the full usage out of the hardware we spent good money for. Why sell the equipment short?
That's my two cents anyway :approve:
