eventually replacing the hard drive fer a 200 gig USB 2

Not a stupid idea. You can always drop your 160 GB HDD into the enclosure when you outgrow the drive. Great way to store your media files.

Stupid? No way. I've got an 80GB external on both my home and office systems - it's an excellent way to maintain a backup strategy. Cheap, too.

Its not a bad idea, :approve:

That is exactly what I did with my old 80GB IBM deskstar too, now its housed in a sleek USB 2.0 ext harddisk case.

In its old place sits dual 250GB 7200rpm Hitachi deskstars in my pc now. :love:

i did the same with a 20gb hard drive from my inspiron 8200 when i upgraded it to a 60gb drive.

very handy to have portable media to carry around when the capacity is greater than memory cards.
