Question AM I stupid for converting a old 80GB IDE to ext drive?

Hi,

I upgraded a IDE 80gb to A SATA 160GB. I have no extra to keep the drive in the computer. So I odered a USB2/firewire 3.5/5.25 ext enclosure. I didn't want bother with selling it or letting it sit in the drawer. I was just wondering if this was a stupid idea? I all ways thought you could never have to much drive space.

Your thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Paul

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. You can always use this drive for backups and to transfer files from one PC to another.

I think its a great idea. I have 3 hard drives that I use like that, and each has a specific purpose. Not only does it allow for extra space, but it conceptually allows you to organize things into your different drives.

I just bought a 250GB HD to replace my current 80GB also. By the way after rebates this drive is $69.00 at tigerdirect.com. Anyway, I'm sure you'll definitely find a use for this drive, basicly you can use it for backups and file transfers for sure. My HD is going into my PlayStation 2 for gaming.

Why?

The 80GB will be great to backup all of your files.
