So I finally got sick of my roommate's sub-$100 tv and went out shopping.
Results:
26'' Widescreen HDTV with HD tuner already built-in (Samsung)
HD antenna for those free HD broadcasts (yay!)
Component cable set for XBOX
Lots more xbox games
TV Stand (Where would I buy it but target)
Some other stuff, but nothing of great consequence
So last night my roommate, a friend, and I tried it out by watching monday night football in HD....oh wow did it rock. TV is awesome and I was getting a really good signal with the antenna...our dorm cable has an absolutely horrid signal, so this is a lifesaver.
Pics:
I'll take more if there's something else you'd like to see.

I'm keeping my options open. I see no reason why I wouldn't want to , it's a very fine school. I know Schrags up there has his heart set on going to Georgia Tech.
Couldn't you put a HDTV adapter into your PC and watch HDTV on the monitor? That's how I got HDTV.
Better yet, connect your PC to the HDTV and use it as a PVR.

There are many discarded workstation monitors that can do HD (if not more!). I have a HP p1130 that can do 1920x1440. (My friend Caitlin Williams gave it to me when she upgraded to LCD.) I remember the day when I watched the 2004 Super Bowl on it. The details sure came out nice and clear, a little too clear if you know what I mean. But anyways, an old workstation monitor is probably the cheapest way to get true HDTV.
Of course, for those willing to spend more, there are high end LCDs that can do HDTV, as can good laptops. Dell's 9300 is really nice, and when combined with a USB or PCMCIA HDTV adapter, allows you to take HDTV with you.

how does a college student afford a HDTV? did you use your book money on it?
Those Samsung 26" HD sets are actually priced very good. There's plenty of college kids that could afford them now, as the prices aren't that bad anymore. That's what hard work is for. :)

Nah, you're doing it backwards... Get a nice HDTV, and use it as your monitor/tv... I have a TV tuner in my pc, but i would love for an HDTV to be my monitor...
