Wireless Lan Connection at Work ??
I work for a large corporation and at home I use a wireless
Dell Truemoblie 1180 CF card with my Linksys router for
my home network.
What is the best way to use this CF card at work with my pc
so I can go wireless there and not upset the IT/Corp. security
people?

Thanks all.

Matt, the guy who does security for a living says "Dont do it, shit like that can get you canned on the spot."

Matt, the guy who has to surf the net because he's strung out on the internet like a crack addled monkey says "Someone, cough cough, might pop a pcmcia wifi card in their laptop, or in a pinch toss a ap in their desk drawer to run a little adhoc network. Someone might also spend a little time setting up SSH so they could tunnel all their traffic through an encrptyed data path."

I would tend to agree with the Matt that "does security for a living," though of course, it really comes down to how militant your employer is. I do know that unregulated wifi is one of those things that is really starting to stand-out on the radar of corporate security right now and it wouldn't shock me if more and more companies start actively sniffing out unauthorized networks.

I hate to say it, but in these times, why give them a reason to fire you...

I installed an AP in my office by getting a small 4-port hub and some cables. I connected the "uplink" port on the hub into the network jack in my office and then connected my desktop PC and the AP into the hub. Now I can access the corp network and the internet via WiFi on my Axim. I can also print to network printers using the HP utility, sync with my desktop PC, access network file servers, etc - all via WiFI. It's great.

If your allowed to do that, Yes! but if your not allowed to setup a major security hole like that, NO!

WiFi is very insecure, even with the latest 256-bit WEP... At my work we have some network hotspots which are hooked onto a highly secured VPN server which connects to the intranet/internet.

I'm trying to get my connection up but I'm still figuring out the VPN configuration with MovianVPN.
