Can connect to ActivSync Via WiFi but no internet HELP PLZ
Ok here it is:
Was working fine but now weird things...
Ok I can use my WiFi card and ActiveSync to my desktop.
I can ping 66.218.71.91 which is the IP for www.yahoo.com. I can NOT ping www.yahoo.com using vxUtil.
Sounds like DNS settings to me. I checked the DNS settings and they are correct and my desktop connects fine. I can't connect using 66.218.71.91 either.
PIE says 'the page you are looking for can not be found.'
HELP!

Hi Dennis,
I don't have an immediate solution but I was wondering if you can get your email through the Ax?
Also, I assume you've tried a soft reset?

Yes. Via Activesync..
Any thing is throught the ActiveSync and not on its own connection to the internet.

OK, more obvious questions - have you checked the connection settings? Any new programs?
P.S. I don't mean to be condescending. I know you know this stuff at least as well as I do, but we all overlook obvious things at times.

Connections
If you haven't done so already, go to Start > Settings then the Connections tab.
Tap the Connections icon. On the page that comes up, you should see three drop down menus.
Make certain the bottom one, My Network Card Connects To:, is set to "The Internet."
Might help!

Sorry to disagree but it's my understanding that "The Internet" setting is only if you are using a dial-up modem in your Ax. Mine is set to "Work" and I successfully connected with both ActiveSync and browsing through WiFi and ethernet connections.

Fascinating
I guess we've both learned something then. Mine is set to "The Internet" and I can roam freely from home to work to "other;) " networks and get online with no troubles.
I know you only need to CONFIGURE your "Internet Settings" if you use a dialup modem, but "My Network Card Connects To" did have to be set to "The Internet" in my case.
Maybe it is different for other setups.

Thanks for the link. After reading it, I can understand why my settings work, both here at home and at work since I don't have Proxy servers at either and I have all three settings set for 'work.' It doesn't really explain why yours works with the 'Internet' setting but you are right, if you get settings that work, you are good to go.
In fact, prior to the A03 upgrade, my settings were functional with Internet, Internet, Work. After the change, the first time I tried connecting through PIE it told me I had to change them. That's when I went to Work, Work, Work and everything has been fine since.
Dennis, I guess the question this raises with regard to your situation - could your Axim settings include a Proxy server now?

I got it working again using the setting WORK/INTERENT.
I did not change it but I did install WebIS @Mail a few days ago. I honestly don't know why they would change it and may be just a fluke that it changed. Either way....
Thanks for the ideas. I ws messing with the IP settings, DNS settings, WiFi settings etc. Obviously I had it right so that I could connect and perform and ActiveSync. I SHOULD have guessed of internet settings but sometimes another persons input help nudge things along.
THANKS GUYS !!!
'preciate ya!

Setting the last option to "Internet" only causes problems if you plan to sync via WiFi, because all syncing must be done via "Work," see?
I sync via cradle so Internet, Work, Internet works for me. If I cared to sync via WiFi I would have to set things to Work, Work, Work.
Basically, I'm being a lemming and doing things Microsoft's way by syncing via Work and surfing via Internet.
But I see your point too. There really is no reason to NOT use Work, Work, Work unless you are using a dialup modem. You're right on about that, and I would have never known if you had not started me thinking about it. Thanks.

OK, now I got it. I find syncing through WiFi works fine unless I'm trying to transfer a lot of data. Although just now I'm having trouble keeping the connection. I think (read that 'hope') that it's just because I have too many things running on the PC. I got a memory low message earlier.

I have bluetooth wireless access set up and I'm having some of the same issues. I had the LAN access working before the A03 upgrade (which I did to resolve the PIE problems) and now I can't get it to work again. I think before I had the connections set to Internet, work, Internet. I keep playing with them and either I get a message stating that my settings are incorrect or PIE tries to connect for about a minute (without the bluetooth card flashing) and then says the page could not be found. I can connect though Activesync via bluetooth and can establish a LAN connection to my desktop via bluetooth, but no Internet through the LAN. Any more ideas? Is A03 causing a problem?
