Question wi fi syncing

Hello! I am trying to sync wifi because the connectors on my cradle broke. I have two firewalls, the one that came installed with my laptop and McAfee. I have activesync as "exceptions" on both firewalls and I can sync with the McAfee running, but not with the windows one. I tried opening a new port in the windows firewall, but that didn't work (or I didn't do it right!)

Would appreciate any insite!

Thanks
Wendy

Two firewalls is never recommended. Turn off one of them and allow the ports on the other. Running both firewalls causes confusion as you have seen and doesn't offer any additional protection.

Thanks for the tip. I wondered if there was really any added benefit to two firewalls.

Are you trying to WiFi Sync (which is the topic of this thread)? If so, downgrade to AS 3.8. Wireless Sync is not supported in AS 4.x

When will wifi sync work with wireless? This would be a great feature for me since I don't have bt on my sync computer.

It worked quite well with AS 3.8 and earlier versions but apparently never again. The word from M$ is that it's a security breach and they have no plans to put it back.

well, that just stinks. Looks like I have to get a bt adapter for my laptop.

What kind of security breech are we talking about? Should I just go get a bt adaptor for my laptop?

make sure you add the I.P. address of your axim to TRUSTED in your firewall options.

Just an FYI - If you're running a router that has a firewall built in (I don't know if they all do but Belkin does) and a firewall on your PC you shouldn't have any problems with the two. I think the issue comes in with two on the PC. You can test your "visibility" on the net by going here http://www.hackerwatch.org/probe/. I've tried it on different PC's and different levels of security and it seems to work pretty well.
