I have searched the forum but not sure if I found the answers or not...

I have an eMac that has an Airport Extreme (g compatible WiFi) card fitted. same as a PC adaptor or card essentially.

The Mac is connected to broadband via ethernet modem/router.

Can I use my Axim x51v to access the intternet using the macs connection of Wifi or do I need to get a wireless router as well. I know that might be simpler but Idon't want to spend the money if I don't need to.

I'm not vary familar with MACs, but my guess is that you can. Windows has an Internet Connection Sharing utility that allows this and I suspect the MAC OS has something similar. Once you get that aspect figured out, you'll need to operate both wireless adapter and the Axim in Peer-to-peer mode (ad-hoc). There are some details about this with Windows in the "alternate setups" section of the WiFi Guide linked from my signature that may be helpful.

Please post back how you get along. I'm curious since this type of setup can be tricky on the PC but is something I'm guessing might work better on the MAC.

Incase anyone else needs this, I will be setting this up tonight.

I installed the Airport Extreme card in the Mac - 1min !

In system Preferences go to Network and select Airport. You can then select options to make the mac a access point and enable web sharing.

Make sure you enter a password though or your neighbours will be using your connection!
