Question PCMCI Bluetooth Card - Zoom 4312

Has anyone used this? My Laptop does not have bluetooth and I was considering getting this card rather than a USB adaptor.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 and as you can see below a x51v. Do you think the card would work?

Do you know of other PC cards, I have searched but this is all I found and did not find anything on this site. :rolling:

Any comments, questions, ideas, etc. appreciated.

I have a Zoom 4312 in my "to be eBay-ed" box. Used to use it on a Dell 8000 with a Palm PDA. Worked well. The Zoom 4312 is a Class 1 BT device, which is a bit unusual as most are lesser devices with reduced range. My current laptop only has one PCMCIA slot rather than the two of the 8000, and it is occupied by a 802.11G WiFi card.

There's also a Belkin F8T002 Class 1 PCMCIA in the box. The Zoom has a little antenna that extends and the Belkin has a LED. Otherwise, functionally equivalent.

Thanks!

Do you think it would work for my situation? x51V & Inspiron 1100.

I can't answer that as I have a X50V and I've been reading posts of issues with X51V's (actually WM5) problems with BT.

I use BT between my cell phone and my X50V for GPRS web browsing and email now and again, but found BT to be too slow for my tastes. It was like going back to an early generation dial-up modem. That's why the two PCMCIA cards are in the "to be eBay-ed" box! DSL spoiled me.

That is good info for me. I was thinking I could also use my laptop with a bluetooth GPS and MS Streets and trips 2006 or Iguidance.

Also wanted to be able to sync without having to use the wired cable or cradle.

I was able to do both BT sync and BT GPS with my Palm and PC. Sync was slow compared to USB. Cannot see any reason why the PPC would be any different. Could also use BT in the PC to talk with either my BT cell phone or a 56KB BT dial-up phone line modem I have to get to the internet in a pinch. Seemed sort of redundant with a Palm or PPC BT-enabled PDA, though.
