Wi-Fi Newbie needs help please

Hi there I am totally new to this wi-fi stuff but desperately need to get it to work. My office has a DSL connection and a d-link di-624 router. My axim has a d-link dcf-650w card. My problem is that I have no idea what to do next and I don't understand any of the terminology that goes with netwoking. It seems as if I am connecting because my link quality and signal level are very good. I can't however get it to browse the web or access any files.

When my axim is in the cradle I can browse the web but when I pull it from the cradle and rely on the wi-fi I cannot. I get errors like "the page you are looking for cannot be found" my settings are work, work and work. if I change my settings to internet, work, work then I get the "unable to connect with current settings..." error.

I have been playing with this for 3 days and am really frustrated, if there is an online guide for dummies for this kind of stuff could someone let me know about it please. It is important that I get this working.

Thanks

Go to Settings > Connections > Connections... You may need to change the settings. For my netgear I have to set them all to "Work". Yours might be different...

thanks, I tried that, changed my settings and still the same problems, very frustrating.

Is there a cache memory in the axim? It seems as if I browse a site while in my cradle then I can open that site when my axim is out of the cradle but once I try to go beyond what I had browsed while cradled I get error messages that say my settings need to be changed. I am wondering if the axim is just opening the sites from memory and not actually connecting to them.

Shouldn't matter. The Axim knows the difference between USB and WiFi... I don't have the Dlink software to tell you how to work the settings.

I'm new to this too, and generally just talk out my @$$...but these might help.

Both users (axim archives & dell forum) mention probs w/ WEP being enabled....

nope I really am that stupid I wouldn't have known that :D ...however that isn't the problem either. This is really frustrating, I was hoping it would be much easier than this, I think it probably should be.

Re: WiFi

Go to your settings on your Axim and try entering your DNS as 4.2.2.2
See if this works. I also have DSL at my workplace and it works fine.
