Update on this issue

Hi,
I have noticed that the wifi indicator in the bottom of the right side of the screen, sometimes tells me thats online, but the green signals are not showed.
The only options to this problem, are to switch the wifi on and off and hope that it would access the wireless network.
This can be a problem if you are moving around the building, because it tells you you are online, but with no signal indication that are access to the network.

This problem are still there if you are very close to the access point.

I do think there may be a problem with the WIFI.
I use certificated, and importet the cerfiticate from our local server through the software Odyssey, and afterward stop using the Odyssey client. Insted of the Odyssey client, I want to use WM5 own Wireless setup solution, but this disapeered because of the ROM A06. The reason why I did not want to use the Odyssey client is that it slow down the unit. Anyway I now have to use the Odyssey client, and some time its shows that it is enabled, but are not.
Just to notice you, i use WPA/TKIP with EAP/TLS if that makes any help.

I did notice the batteri did drain very quickly overnight, but I gues it might be the ActiveSync 4.1 thats the reason..

Hope that my feedback can help!

Best regards,
Kim

kmoberg:

(A06 came pre-installed on my Ax51v)

From what I've experienced, if your using the Odssey client, the WM5 "wireless" screen dissapears. Disabling the Odssey client, soft-reset and/or using a free client (such as Hitchhiker) after turning off the Odssey client in most cases will re-enable the WM5 wireless screen.

The WM5 client has a few strange behaviors:

There are about 20+ access points listed on the WM5 client screen, all are access points that I've "seen" in the past. If I have wireless turned ON and I'm nowhere near a wireless signal (as shown by the Dell client Site Screen), WM5 will brainlessly cycle through attempting to connect to each and every one of the 20+ access points listed. (what a battery drain!)

UPDATE: After updating the firmware of the Linksys 54g and the Netgear access points at work, the WM5 client is able to use WPA-PSK/TKIP to connect.

My Dlink Di624 still requires the Odssey client.

cannot get adHoc working, intermittent issues with wireless

I have a new x51v that was delivered with A06, I have followed every thread in this forum on setting up adHoc + internet sharing, and the closest I can get is the browser trying to connect to a site, but never actually getting their and never gives me an error message, both PIE and Opera.

configuring networks is something I usually find quite trivial but this has got me stumped, (I'm a PDA newb).

Last night my Axim would not connect to my home router, it repeatedly kept asking me re-enter the network key.

It didn't seem to matter how often I went into settings and made sure I had the right key and that the 'The Key is automatically provided' was not checked, each time I'd go in after being prompted once again for the key, the checkbox would be checked the 'Network Key:' would be greyed out and empty! I swear I kept trying for an hour and eventually it just connected.

I'll have to see if Odyssey will help with my issues, or maybe Hitchhiker. I'm bummed about having to re-enter 26 digit key, and the fact that I can't get a wireless connection for when I'm at the office.

Just got my X51v, so far it detects my wireless network but haven't been able to connect to the internet, at work it also detects the Wifibut it seems to be too weak to connect, but I guess it is a good sign that Wifi companion detects the networks, the only problem now is to connect to the internet, anybody can suggest how to connect? I have a secure connection at home, someone told me I have to enter my password, but I have no clue how to do it.

I think most of these problems are human error. I've hard-reset my axim a bunch of times, all of which I've reinstalled all my programs.

I install my programs (less today plugins) to my SD card and I keep all my cab files on my 8gb CF card as backup.

You HAVE to make sure you do the Server trick! I also use the Widcomm drivers on my Axim x51v. I personally do not like the Odyssey client but I've heard it does allow for some more connection settings.

My router is a linksys G and the SSID is hidden, and uses WEP encryption. I connect fine.

I do notice the page where it lists all your previous access points. I think it does this to remember WEP keys and connection settings. Its a hassel but I'm sure it has some purpose. I just delete them randomly if I don't know what they are.

It should have asked for the key when the connection was first established but you can enter it in the settings. If you are using WEP, with WiFi on go Start, Settings, Connections (tab), Network cards, tap on the name of your network and go to the Network Key page. You need to enter the key in hexidecimal format (10 or 26 characters depending on whether you are using 64 or 128-bit WEP).

I recieved an X51v a few days ago and have been attempting to get it to connect to my works wireless network.

Wireless network SSID is hidden with WEP encryption and LEAP association. I have gotten this network to work fine with both my laptop and old X30H however my X51v using the odessey client will not connect. It just keeps scanning. I know it is there because it shows up under Wifi companion after SSID is entered into WLAN utility.

I really wish the WLAN utility supported LEAP by itself.

Anyone have any ideas or alternatives to the Odessey client.

Thank you.

I am having exactly the same problem. My 26 character WEP key keeps going missing. I can get online when I don't use WEP, but I really want to use encryption. I have been successful a few times with the WEP key, but after the session, the key goes missing. I am not having these problems with my laptop. It is rock solid accessing the internet via wifi and 128 bit WEP encription (26 character key). So..... Did you come to some resolution on this problem??????
