Verizon and x51

I have an x51 that I have not yet upgraded from ROM A01.

I am thinking about switching from Cingular to Verizon because Verizon has better coverage in a particular area.

I was hoping to get a phone that I could occasionally use as a modem -- this would not be for regular use as a modem, just in an "emergency." I don't necessarily need high-speed access, regular old dial up would be OK for my purposes. I'm not trying to rip off any carrier, I just want to be able to use my phone to pick up email every once in a while.

Of course, the simplest would be pairing the x51 with a bluetooth phone, but I understand that Verizon has crippled its phones.

Here are my questions:

1) Can you pair an x51 with any currently offered Verizon bluetooth phone (mot e815, mot razr v3c, samsung SCH-a950) to connect to the net (either to a dialup ISP or otherwise) to download e-mail. I went to a Verizon store and tried typing ##DIALUP into a few phones (razr, e815) to activate DUN, but the phones did not give any sign of activating DUN.

2) Can you connect an x51 to a currently offered Verizon phone using a cable to connect to the net (dialup ISP or otherwise) and download e-mail? What phones?

Marceline,

Good question.

1. You should be able to pair with the E815 and the V3C, not sure about sch-a950, heard DUN was disabled. ##DIALUP should do it, and then you should be able to do it. Check Ho-Fo. The only thing is be careful about doing the #777 thing on VZW. Using EV-DO is against their TOS. You can easily be dropped. I have the V710, and it worked well, till after A01, but right now no go.

2. You can use a cable with any phone I thought. But you can't connect that to the Axim.
