what about streaming?

I'm firghtfully new at all of this and won't even try pretending I know the right words for things- here is the basic question.

One of the reasons I decided to get a PDA was because I love to listen to NPR radio shows and after discovering that I could access the audio archives, began to download them to my PC. I had the brilliant idea of copying some onto CD and taking them in the car with me (like books on tape), but discovered sadly that they are protected and cannot be copied. ENTER THE AXIM: I thought that there was some way to get them onto my PDA, but I'm beginning to think that I would still have to access them live and couldn't "save them there" for later listening in the car". I hope this makes sense. I just want to save the damn audio files so I can listen later, the way I can with MP3s. does anyone know what I'm talking about and if there is a way for me to use my PDA in this endeavor? (without trying to go wireless which is an entirely overwhelming concept for me!)
I appreciate anyone patient enough to read this and respond!
Thanks,
LM

There are 2 approaches I can think of:

1. Subscribe to audible.com. For a monthly fee, you can download NPR news programs.

2. ReplayRadio is a software product that will allow you to schedule most any streaming program that will play on your Desktop PC. You can listen to them on the desktop and/or capture them to MP3 files.
Once you've recorded the programs, you can load them onto your PPC and play them with a music player.

If you do decide to go wireless (which I highly recommend), you can stream hourly news from NPR using the GSPlayer application. Unfortunately, most of the streaming content on NPR is in RealAudio format which won't work with the RealOne Mobile Player. At least until Real updates their mobile player software.
