Sorry for this matter yet again! Home network with Linksys WRT54G and Axim x51v.
It was with WPA2 and TKIP, Firewall, MAC address filtering, Mixed B and G - tried it with those settings (entering MAC address and key) and eventually with all disabled but still no joy. Tried soft and hard reset. Tried Wifi Companion. SSID broadcast is enabled.
Both WLAN Utility and Wifi Companion show the network and even report its status as good, but no internet connection. Tried work and home - same result. The Wlan icon is not green, so there's a problem somewhere.
Only glimmer of hope was unplugging linksys and cable modem when for a while I had internet access, but after turning off wifi and Axim, back to square one.
Anyone any more ideas? This area (along with Activesync!) the only pains with this cool device).
1) Turn the axim on and tap and hold the wifi icon in the lower right corner. This will bring up WLAN utility.
2) Set power save mode to Disable.
3) Tap Turn on
4) Tap the site tab. On the top is a status it should say connected. If it says someting else then you are not connected then repost "I am not connecting"
5) Tap the tools tab. In the left of the Ping box is an IP address. It it is not 0.0.0.0 then your are connected to the router and it has assigned you an IP address. If you do not have an IP address, repost "I do not have an IP address"
6)Tap the Advanced tab. Your IP address also on this page along with your net mask and gateway IP address. The gateway is the IP address of the system that is actually connected to the internet. If there is something blank repost "Something is blank".
7) Tap the Okay and close WLAN
8) Selection Connections - You should have "My Work Network" and some links under that. I not post "I have the wrong connectons"
9) Select the advanced Tab, then Select Networks.
10)On this page there should be two selecton boxes and they should both say "My Work Network". Under the top one tap "Edit"
11)On the My Work Network page select the Proxy settings tab.
12) Make sure the "this network connect to the Internet" is checked
13) Make sure "This network usese a proxy server to connect to the Internet" is NOT checked.
14) press OK in the upper right corner to close all windows and get to the today screen. Open PIE and surf the web. Or Repost "No Proxy, No Worky"
I moved your thread out of the X5 forum since it has nothing to do with an X5 (and there are major differences in the way WiFi is handled in these two devices).
benots4's post has all the steps outlined in the WiFi Guide (linked from my signature) but you can check it for troubleshooting if anything is different from his description.

What is the firmware version on your router?
When you say no green light, what did you see in the WLAN Utility soft button ... is it Turn On or Turn Off?

I am going to risk sounding like a broken record (and probably the only thing I can contribute!) ...
I posted a solution in this thread for D-Link router, your symptom looked similar to what I got, so hopefully, this will work for you. X51v has Odyssey Client, you can give that a try. Here is the solution I used to connect to the wireless router using Odyssey Client... http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=113239
As far as I know, X51V wifi does not support WPA2 (WPA-PSK - TKIP is fine though).

Gee thanks everyone, I thought I'd clicked the email me button if some one answers and presumed you were ignoring me!!
Well it turns out that Odyssey is the man! I had tried this earlier but it didn't work. So I removed the Wifi companion and tried again with setting up a connection with the Odyssey client and no problem.
One word of advice if anyone is thinking of getting that Wifi Companion - I don't find it particularly helpful or add anything practical at all so it sits there as another ornament!
And WPA2 with TKIP-AES works fine incidentally.
Thanks again everyone.

Which odyssey client did you use? I can't seem to get it to work with WPA2...
What is the WiFi companion?? Is that something that you installed or comes pre installed?
I believe the Odyssey client on the x51v only supports WPA, not WPA2. I also believe that routers using WPA2 can be set to also support WPA connections, so this may be how jumpinjakflash was able to connect.
It appears that the recent x51v wireless update broke the ability to connect via WPA-TKIP. I've read of many instances where this has happened. The only fix I've heard so far is to roll back.
the Wifi Companion is a retail piece of software made by Socket.
