Axim X51/520 can't re-enable WiFi

Hi All

I didn't know if anyone else is having a similar problem?

I have 100 Axim X51/520's with A05 ROM
Of those 100, I am running a trial with 25 of them on a Wireless LAN with 48 x 54mbit HP 420 Wireless Access points

The problem seems to be that once the battery gets low it disables the wireless (as its supposed to if checked in the Dell Wireless utility) but even after fully recharging (or replacing the battery with a fully charged one) we can't re-enable the wireless (802.11xx) Bluetooth re-enables OK, but not the Wireless.

Has anyone come across this before?
need to resolve this before I send 100 X51's back to Dell as not fit for purpose!

The hardware button assigned to wireless will only enable what was used last. To manually enable wifi, go to Start - Settings - Connection tab and open up the Dell WLAN Utility.

Yes, if you just want to turn on wifi, the surest thing is to run the dell wlan utility. The wireless on/off button maps to \windows\wirelessonoff.exe. As you can tell from the name, it's pretty non-specific on what it turns on or off. What it does is toggle between all wireless off (wifi and bluetooth) and your previously-on wireless component on (be it wifi, bluetooth, or both).

While I have found a simple utility to quickly toggle bluetooth, I haven't found one for wifi. Instead, I got myself a copy of skschema and created scripts to let me toggle wifi or bluetooth on and off with a click of a shortcut.
