Here's the deal...

My house is hard wired, compleatly. I've never once messed with wireless, and am looking for getting a router for my axim.

what CF card should i get?
What router?

take into consideration price is a MAJOR issue and i want to get the best quality for the cheapest price, and if all else fails the cheapest price will win.

I am researching all of this myself, and am having marginal sucess, but wondering if anyone can make some suggestions.

Let me make sure I understand you. Are you looking to set up wireless for the Axim or do you want to connect the Axim by wire to your current system?

Does the wired system have a router? If so, does it have a free port?

CircuitCity is closing out all of their Seimens Speedstream wireless networking hardware for dirt cheap. So if you have one in your area, you might want to check and see if they still have any.

EOS:

If your wired network already contains a wired router, you DO NOT have to purchase another router. All you need is a Wireless Access Point (WAP). The WAP will simply hook into one of the wired routers ports, and provide multiple users with wireless connections.

I agree with deftech .. If you already have a router supporting your wired network you do not need a wireless router .. Just an access point ...

If you don't have a router and are using some form of Internet Connection Sharing then I'd suggest the wireless router so you can use the Axim without having to have one of the computer on all the time to be connected to the internet.

EOS,

Going back to Def's earlier post, if there is a Circuit City near you, their Siemen's router is $30 right now. I think I paid around $80 for a Belkin AP a couple months back but WiFi (esp 802.11b) equipment is dropping fast these days in anticipation of 802.11g standards being adopted.
