Yet another Active Sync situation

I have been using a Linksys WCF12 CF card and it is great for streaming audio/video over the net and surfing with PIE and all the other great stuff you can do wirelessly. I'm able to Sync with the cradle and WAS able to sync wirelessly. I even did a wireless backup that made my head spin with it's speed. Now I can start Active Sync and the PC and the Axim start to sync. During the 'Looking for Changes' stage the bar creeps out to about 1/3 of the way and then just hangs. After about 20 seconds or so it drops the connection. Declares that its not connected and just sits there. I'm not at the edge of the wifi range because I can start over and it does the same thing. Makes me think there is a bad file in the Axim. But I can't tell which one it is because I see no indication of where its looking. Plus, the sync through the cradle works fine. I can access my PC through Explorer wirelessly so I know I have a good connection. The sync is working because it starts the process, it just quits after getting so far into the process.

I'm going to look for some kind of logging and maybe I can find out what file keeps getting hung in it's throat.

There is a log file called "wcesmgr.log", it might help you out...

Is it something that has to be turned on? I just searched both the Axim and my desktop PC and found hide-nor-hair of the log file you mention.

Thanks

Have you checked to see if your WCF12 is in "Power Save Mode"?

Man...I didn't realize you could backup via wireless (as I sit here waiting for the stupid 20-30 minute USB backup). I'm going to have to check this out tonight when I get home. This would be a great time-saver.

Thanks,

Gary

Yes, wireless backup is GREAT! My USB backup used to take about 45 minutes. By wireless it takes less than 5 minutes.

shaun_o - You are right. I WAS in power save mode. I had forgotten about that. When just surfing I go to power saver mode but when streaming audio or video I turn it off because it interrupts the stream. As soon as I get offline I will try my auto-sync again and see if the power saver was causing my problem. thanx for the reminder.
