From the Main tab of your WLAN utility on your Axim, Disable Power save mode. This may help extend the range of your WiFi.
Please ignore gadgetnerd; he hasn't had his Ovaltine today.
The "Proper" forum would be Wireless Communications found here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=31
It's alright, this is a big message board. Maybe a moderator will see this and move your thread.

And, welcome to Aximsite!
.
I agree with PocketBrain. Also welcome to the site. Its filled with very helpful people that give of their time to assist others with great free advise or their experiences. There is a great search feature on the site that will give you lots of information on any thing you would think of. If you can not find what your looking for using the search feature be sure and ask away and some one will help you out. Youve found a wonderful site and yourve got a great PDA.
Also, placement of your WiFi access point is crucial. Try to place it as centrally as possible in the area you will be accessing it. Since it's wireless, it doesn't have to be in the home office. And you can hide it by mounting the thing underneath a table, for example.
There are several options and what works best for you will depend on your need and your physical layout. As you learn more about it you can use the search to narrow down the discussion.
There are antennas that you can use with your router, that will work if your router has the screw in typ "rabbit ear(s)". There is even a paper one you can make yourself described in thread on this side.
There are also booster units that can be added to your network.
Finally, there are routers that tout their range extending capabilities. These are often for the new networks and I don't know if it helps on the 'b' network that the ax uses.
Aximsiters very friendly and they will help sort out the great info you will find as you delve through your options.
What I am looking for is a way to pull into like a place that offers Wi-Fi like a Hotel or something and be able to connect from the Parking Lot. Anything that plugs into the Axim Itself
Let Me Know
Thanks

If you have a X51V (like I do) wifi is built into the unit and accessing a wifi network thats open and free is the same way you would with a notebook. Your unit will discover networks that are available to it and you select the one you wish to connect to. Its pretty easy actually. Some of the X51 units however do not have wifi built into them and then a CF wifi card or SD wifi card (if there is such a thing) would be your only solution.

Disabling power save, does indeed help! Or, you can purchase range extenders from Linksys or NetGear.
BTW what is Ovaltine? Is that something like Tang?

Ovaltine is a milk-additive drink mix. Theoretically tastes like chocolate milk. Chock full of vitamins and roughage and all sorts of healthy things that ruin the flavor. For growing kids.
astaticpunk, you will want to turn off power-saving, as your best immediate solution. An alternative would be to mount a range booster in your car, but you would likely have to set it up for each wireless network you wanted to access. And maybe use extended antennas. Look into making a cantenna or wok-fi as well (google those).
