Cast one vote for Opera. I tried NetFront, but simply couldn't get it to turn the corner for me. I bank online at Bank of America and Opera handled it beautifully (as with every other website). Highly recommended for the x50v operators. Warning that it has some issues with TenGo.
I'm truly conflicted. I am a long time opera for pc user and like the interface alot, but there are certain sites that it just doesn't play well with. Several institutions have set up certificates that opera can't handle. The same was true of the beta versions of Opera for Mobile.
I am using netfront. I don't like the look of it nearly as much and there are aspects that I find awkward, or at least for me not intuitive. But it has not faltered on any of the institutional sites, or with any certificates. So for now, or at least until my $30 runs, it's netfront for me.

I tried the final opera trial. Some pages would look fine, others would be distorted requiring tweaking. Then you'd go to a normal page and have to revert the settings back. Opera looks nice once you tweak the settings for a page, but after a few minutes it became tiresome. Plus you can't make Opera the default browser because then you'll never get IE to work after you uninstall.
Plus TenGo is a really sweet piece of software that hindered my decision to go with Netfront. It is more stabile then Opera and I never have to change the settings other then the initial time. It works great.
I saw pics of MiniMo (PocketFirefox) and it's looking very nice. I like the favorites bar down the side. I heard its very unstabile though.
Download the trial and try it. Don't make it the default browser. I uninstalled it after 15 minutes.
I know there has been a lot of posts on this topic as well as some good reviews by Menneisyys and such, and I apologize in advance for any redundency.
I am an Axim x50v owner who uses my Axim a lot for wifi web browsing. My biggest complaints with PIE are it speed and inability to open many websites or view them effectively. I finally decided to move to a better web browser and it seems that Opera and Netfront are best suited to address my PIE concerns.
From reviewing the posts, it seems that Opera is a little faster then Netfront, and has received perhaps a little more positive endorsement. However, I also see a number of posts on the problems experienced with the Axim x50v running Opera.
I have downloaded the trials of both programs, but am having trouble figuring out which is the best path for the $24/$30 investment? Again speed, stability and ability to access the most web sites (correctly) are my big concerns/needs.
on a wm2003se X50v device Opera has problems with long web pages.. that's the main reason i went for Netfront
(that and the problems Opera has with Tengo, caligrapher etc...)

After using Opera and the trial version of Netfront, I think I am going with Opera as it seems (at least against the trial version of NF) to be much faster and more compatible with the websites and e-mail services I use.
Having said that, I do agree that NF seems to have richer features, better renditioning of most web pages, and does not appear to suffer from the long web page corruption. Opera also does not seem to use the input recognition feature or play well with Full Screen Keyboard programs.
I have placed an e-mail on the Opera forum asking if anyone knows when/if Opera is going to address at least the web page corruption issue, and if Oepra will charge for such fix/upgrade or offer it free to registered users of version 8.60 (hopefully, it would be a free fix, but you never know).
If anyone has heard anything about Opera's development path as it impacts the Axim x50v, greatly appreciate their insight.
Apologies for double posting, but i accidentally posted the following under the wrong thread, which should be under this Opera v Netfront thread:
I'm currently deciding whether to buy opera 8.60u or Netfront 3.3 on my x51v a12 - my findings so far:
1) OPERA: I first installed Opera in main memory and selected as my default browser - I can login and access key features for all my critical online sites (banking sites, vonage, linksys wireless router, etc.) with the major exception of aol.com which does not allow me to login even if i select "Identify as Desktop Computer" - essentially opera is unable to render the login user id & password box, no matter what options and configuration changes i made.
2) NETFRONT: installed it in addition to Opera also in main memory - just to see if it would at least allow me to login into aol.com - I've been very surprised to find the following:
(a) it will not let me login into vonage.com - it gives some certificate error;
(b) while i can login and access my linksys wireless travel router, it does not render the screens properly where I'm unable to select certain functions, which are selectable under Opera
(c) for aol.com - it basically says that aol uses newer technology not supported by my current browser - essentially the same message I get w/ PIE
So my key questions to those using the FULL netfront 3. 3 version on x51v:
(a) Am i getting these results because I have the demo netfront version?
If the question is YES, then I'm be very surprised that a s/w company would provide a useless demo that doesn't allow its prospective buyers to simply test whether their s/w would allow them to login into their main sites/apps!
(b) Am I getting these results because I also have Opera installed?
