Wireless connection dropping between PC and PPC

I have connected my IBM laptop and my Dell Axim X51v together through wireless, and enables ICS to let internet through

at first the PPC was failing to aquire a correct IP address from DHCP (DHCP failure .. 169.254.*.*), So I set the values manually,
IP : 192.168.0.123
Subnet : 255....
Gateway : 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

the computer and ppc successfully connect over an unsecured connection and I can surf internet and access local files (no problem there),

The signal strenght is "Excellent" as the PPC is just right beside the computer,

But the connection drops every couple of minutes and it connects back on again automatically,

meaning for example if i am trying to copy something over the local network, when the connection drops the transfer will fail, though the connection is restablished automatically in a few seconds.

My Axim is A12 and and Power mode is disabled.

I have no idea why the connection is dropping?????????????

I don't have a router,

my IBM R50e laptop is connected to Internet through USB ADSL modem,
I am sharing that Internet connection with ICS.

Are you running XP?

Start Task Manager and go to the performance tab. When your connection drops, check and see if your CPU usage has jumped. Next click on the Processes tab. To make things a bit easier to read. click on the CPU box until you get a numeric value at the top..... ie System Idle Process 97. When the connect drops, check and see what process is running at a high value. My guess is there's something that runs at a high CPU rate and is dropping your ICS connection.

Hope that helps,

Russ

"Disable Wlan when battery is low" is already turned off.

The connection drop starts on the PDA side, which is followed by the computer after a few seconds and the after a few seconad connection is restablished.

The CPU process does not change during this.

The PDA does not have this problem with any other wireless connections or hotspots, and so is the pc fully functional with other devices.

I just can't find any reason for this.

Interferring signals (from another wireless network, cordless phone of microwave oven) can cause this and changing the channel might help.

Just to make sure, the "...Power mode is disabled" mentioned in your first post is referring to the Powersave in the Dell WLAN, right? (There's also a power managemnet in the system settings and people sometimes are confused and disable that one instead of the one in the WLAN).

Power Save mode was always disabled,

There was a cordless phone nearby,
but disconnecting the phone or changing the channel in the computer, did not resolve this issue,

This problem is really bothering me,

????????????????????????????????
