Impenetrable WEP security

I love my X50v. I love my Linksys wireless network. I wish they loved each other.

When I first set my network up they got along swimmingly. My network was completely unprotected and my axim connected immediately and reliably. A few months ago I set up WEP encryption. I've never been able to get them to get along since. My axim still works wirelessly with my network at work, but not at home.

My network shows up as "Available" and if I tell it to connect it says it's "Connecting", but it never connects.

I gave up after this:

Would love to try again if anyone thinks they can help.

Thanks

The advices in there still looks pretty ok to me, so I've no new tricks up my sleeves - sorry.

UPDATE: I'm in.

Long story but spent the last hour or so making sure my router settings were correct - they were. Tried deleting this connection (never figured out how to do this) but did get it to "remove settings". This allowed me to recognize the "new" network. It allowed me to enter the key - but still no luck. I was just messing around and found a way to disable Odessey client. Bingo. Linked right up - no problems since.

I'm too stupid about this stuff to know what I've done. I think the real test will be if I can still connect at work. I've read something about Odessey client being commonly used at big networks like Universities (which is where I work).

Don't know if I'm completely solved yet, but this is some progress.

Don't be afraid to use Oddysey if you need it, turning off is just a case of clicking on the Odyssey client logo at the bottom of the screen, when it is running, click on settings and click on Exit. It's as simple as that, Odyssey only comesback when you choose e.g. click on the Oessey client in the Connection settings.

I had similar problems with my X51v. So you might want to check this:

IMHO wepinst very good. on my personall network (both my high speed short range and my low speed high range) i use mac filtering ip filtering and 64bit wep incriptin. basically wep is the soft pat of the wall but it keeps the aveage war driverout then mac filtering is the hard core which the intermediate wardriver isnt going to get through, then ipfilter as a last lkine of defese to prevent them from cmmunicating with any of nodes on my network... at least untill they figure out my subnet...

Turning off Odessey client is the one thing that made the difference. I'm sure I had entered the key correctly most of the dozens of times i entered it.

I don't know what Odessey does, but if i turn it on I can't connect, if it's off i'm fine.
