Sending ringtones via bluetooth

I have an Axim x50, and I'm looking for a new phone (with Cingular). I know that if you get a phone with bluetooth, then you can send things such as mp3s to be ringtones. However, I cannot find any information on whether that is completely free, or you need some sort of data plan, or if it costs in some way. I don't plan on getting a data plan, or anything other than basic phone service (I don't even text message). If I can (freely) send ringtones over, then I'm going to get a bluetooth phone. Otherwise, I won't worry about it.

If anyone could help me out, that would be great.

Sorry if this has been posted before. I've seen several similar posts, but nothing that explicitly answered my question.

It's free. I do it all the time with my X50 and Moto V551. Use obex file transfer in bluetooth to send the files. I use Audacity (search sourceforge.net) to cut up .mp3's for My ringtones. You can also find many free midi files (.mid) on the web. Just get your popup blocker ready for when you do! My wife's phone does midi so Much better than mine.

Y/W. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but it's great you figured it out yourself!

:(
I remember cutting the Miami Dolphins fight song for my friend Doug.
