Anyone Tried wireless on Sky Broadband

Has anybody tried thier dell Specifically X50v WM2003SE but any wifi PDA will do on sky's new broadband package. As sky supply someform of netgear router with sky's own firmware and you can't use your own router to connect. I've seen on digital spy forums that the router already has problems with WEP encryption.

hi.
I had some help from sky connecting x51 (wm5) to sky netgear router.
Connect the router by cable to the computer. Open Internet Explorer, and in address type in 192.168.0.1
It will then ask you for a username and password, which are:
u- admin
p- sky
You are then in the settings for the router.
Go in "wireless settings", and change it to "wep", and Password Encryption to 128 kbps.
ENTER any password, and
CLICK generate.
It will give a network key which you then put in wireless settings of x51
Hope you find this helpful.
PS - the IP address given is for netgear routers. Other manufacturers have different addresses.

I've tried it at my brothers place and it works fine over WPA. This is with an x51v running A12. If you're having issues with the Sky router, you could get another access point that definately works with the PDA, and either disable the Netgear wireless or run both on different channels.

As for opinions with Sky broadband, you're better off looking in the Digital Spy forums in the Sky broadband subforum. Personally, I think its good, there are a few issues that need to be dealt with initially (uPNP, etc) but once thats sorted, its fine.

I enjoy the delights of online gaming BF2 et al. My concern is ping quality.

I have seen on some forums guidelines for using your own router I.e not the sky provision. Will have a look for it.

this was really helpful, thanks...

is there any way to do this without changing the encryption settings on the router? my current settings at the moment work for my laptop which are on: WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
is it possible to set my axim51v to the same settings as my laptop so i dont have to change the router settings?
