Odyssey Client

Nearly every time I turn on my Axim, I get an error message that says it can not execute Odyssey client ("Cannot execute Program Files\Funk Software\Odyssey Client\OdclientCE.exe"). It takes forever to clear this error message. I've tried disabling Odyssey, but I still get the message. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Aximsite. It depends on what your axim is. x51 or x50 and how have you tried to disable it?

I had the same problem but had to hard reset to install the A012 firmware anyway and now it is gone. Steps I would take:

1. In odessy: click dissable odyssey client on the menu and restart your internal wireless or remove/reinsert external wireless card.
2. Soft Reset: this fixes just about any minir glitch your average axim user will experience
3. Bug the shit out of dell. Most likely they will deny thier software is glitchy and ask you to proceed to step 4
4. Hard Reset (I don't know if its worth it for you, but this should 99% sure solve it

I also had this problem. I think I had to remove Odyssey from the startup folder and exit the program itself (click on the little ship icon on the Today screen). I never opened it again. Odyssey Client causes a lot of problems and slows the device way down. Try this thread:

mm

Edit: This applies to the X51v (WM5). Never had a problem with Odyssey on the X30H (2003SE).

That is the key, once you fix it don't open it again or it will put itself back in your startup folder.

This was a big problem for me for a while. It turns out the Odyssey client keeps putting duplicate notifications in the notification queue, and once there are a few it starts giving that error even if the app is in that location. This happens at least on the version of the client that comes with A12. I'm not aware of a freeware app to remove duplicate notifications in WM5, I'm considering writing one should I find the time. The payware app Memmaid appears to have the ability, however, but I've only tried it with the demo and messing with your notifications queue should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Edit: I should point out that this is the best route for people like myself who need to use the Odyssey client. For those who do not, just do as above.

I have an X51v. I've gone into the Odyssey application and clicked on disable and then exited the program. Should I also delete Odyssey from the startup folder? Is that just the "odclientceaut.." listed in the startup folder or is there something else also?

you can safely delete anything in the startup folder that has to do with odyssey. that should help.

That's a shame. Odyssey is a great client in my opinion.
