Can ping the internet, but still IE problems

Well, I've had my Linksys WCF12 card for 3 weeks now. Under the wonderful help of many here, I've gotten leaps and bounds out of this card. But I still can't get IE to work. I still come up with a "Unable to connect with current settings. To change. . . "

I've got a NETGEAR wireless router (MR814) with 2 machines hard-wired into it (work fine) and one XP Dell PC wireless that works fine.

I installed vxUtil and wound up hard-entering my IP info and DNS info. With that, I can ping any site via web addy or IP address.

Many thanks go out to those who have helped so far - esp. Nathan who has traded dozens of emails to resolve this.

My "Connection" settings are as follows:

When I connect to Internet, I use HOME (this network gets to the internet, no proxy server listed)

When I connect to Work, I use WORK (settings based on the sync software. Uses a proxy server - my network at work.)

My network card connects to. . . has been set to INTERNET and WORK with equal results listed above.

Anyone see the missing link that I'm not? I can GET to the internet, but IE doesn't think so.

I'm about || <- that close to calling Dell. I got the machine in Feb and have done NO software upgrades since I've heard issues with them. No other programs give me any issues on this. And I get email fine while the machine is in the cradle.

Thanks, folks. I'm really hoping it's something VERY stupid and simple that I've missed. Mucho appreciado.

Oh, WEP is disabled on the router and card.

Has your ISP provided you with DNS server IPs? If so, enter them into the settings for your network card. You might also try using your router's IP as the Gateway.

Also, most people that are not using a proxy server are successful when they use Work Settings, Work Settings, Work for the connection settings.

Soft-reset again and it all just came up after a bit of Connections tweeking.

Thanks to all. I can now lounge on my porch with a cigar and surf the web.
