hi,
i was wondering is there a way to get wireless broadband on the axim, trough a wireless carrier like verizon or sprint wireless broad band? is there a cf type 2 card available to put in the aximv51 that will allow you wireless network acess offcourse you will pay for the service but still they have a network pc card for laptops but nothing for pdas ? is there a way.
No CF cards yet - short of WiFi, I'd probably suggest looking at using your Bluetooth enabled phone as a modem, if your phone supports a serial-type connection.
It depends on who your carrier is. verizon really doesn't let you do it, but I thnk Cingular does.

There are such cards but most prolly all carriers will refuse to activate hardware not approved by them. You might have limited success with a Sprint Growell/Yiso card.
Verizon lets you sign up for unlimited data plan $59 and you get broadband speed via Bluetooth to your Axim or Laptop (w/USB cable). I have used broadband access and get about 550Kbs since January and it works fine with great coverage. If you don't pay for it, then it is "crippled" so to speak, but then, if you don't pay for it, why should you feel entitled to get it? Works with their BT phones like LG9800 Lg8100 and others.

All the other companies remained somewhat competitive as opposed to Verizon. =Everyone$<Verizon$$
Verizon went further than simply disabling BT dialup. I'm sure that could have been done server side but they hacked into BT profiles and removed everything...
Profiles like OBEX, PAN and many others.
This means I couldn't simply BT my # to you, you'd need to manually enter it in. Try to send a file, Sending Cameraphone photos, Play multiplayer games over BT, Innumerable uses.
All of which they excuse by saying BT could be used to share copyright data.
So...to stop you from sharing your $4.99 "Crazy Frog" ringtone with your buddy...which is just as easily bypassed by memory cards.
Everyone must suffer?
Like a gas company putting governors on your car...Can't drive faster than 20 unless you buy Premium gas.
Locking down the radio lest you start dancing in the drivers seat and cause an accident. Muting your horn so that other cars can't hear it since they might decide to record it. Charging a fee every time you open your trunk. Ridiculous.
P.S. I did pay for it. I purchased my phone. I laid cold hard cash on the table to get a UTStarcomm 6700 which comes capable of many such things. Yet Telus "baby Verizon" and Verizon disabled them.
