x50v & Motorola V550

Can anyone advise me what the settings are to get my Motorola V550 to connect to the internet via bluetooth to the Axim x50v. :approve:

I have been trying all day, I can get my Nokia 6280 to connect easily enough, but cant get the Moto to connect.

I am looking for the number to dial, username, password and anything that I need to get it to connect.

I notice someone else on this website has managed it, obviously I must be missing something.

I am on Vodafone UK Contract

Thanks

Hi Guys

Got it sorted, so I will post the settings here.

First of all, setup GPRS on your mobile, by contacting your Mobile Phone Service Porvider, i.e Vodafone, O2, Orange etc, (this is were I went wrong initially, didnt have GPRS setup on mobile)

Check and make sure your APN address is set correctly on the phone, in the Web sessions and correct password and username for your provider.

Then I did the following.

Creating a connection.

1. Tap Start > Settings > Connections > Connections icon
2. Tap Add a new modem connection
3. Enter a name for the connection i.e. GPRS Internet
4. Select Bluetooth Dialup Modem from the drop down box
5. Tap Next
6. Tap Use dialling Rules
7. Select either Home or Work and tap Edit. (These names can be edited if you wish)
8. Ensure Country code is blank
9. Enter Area code as 0
10. Tap on Dialling Patterns
11. Ensure each box contains only a g
12. Tap OK in the top right corner three times to return to the phone number page
13. Ensure Country/Region code is blank
14. Enter Area code as 1
15. Enter Phone number *99#
16. Tap Next
17. Tap Advanced
18. Set Baud rate to 57600
19. Untick Wait for dial tone
20. In the Extra dial-string modem command enter +cgdcont=1,”ip”,”internet”
21. Tap OK in top right corner
22. Enter User name - web
23. Enter Password - web
24. Leave domain blank
25. Tap Finish
26. Tap OK until you return to the start screen.
27. Select Bluetooth icon in the bottom right corner (If not located here will be found in start menu)
28. Ensure Bluetooth is on
29. Select Bluetooth Manager
30. Tap New > Connect in the bottom left corner.
31. Tap Connect to the Internet (second option).
32. Tap Next
33. Tap Connect via a dial-up device such as a cellular phone (second option)
34. Tap Next
35. Tap on <No device selected>
36. Once your phone has been found by the X50v, you will then see an icon.
37. Tap on the icon, you will then see a window that says discovering device.
38. When the window has closed, tick ‘Create a shortcut for this connection’
39. Tap Finish
40. On the following page double tap New connection.
41. Enter a name for the connection i.e. Vodafone GPRS
42. Leave country and area codes blank
43. Tap OK in the top right
44. At this point the X50v will search for the device, the phone will then prompt you for a Bluetooth passcode - Enter any four digits
45. The X50v will now prompt for the same passcode - Enter the same four digits
46. You will then be presented with a Network logon page
47. Enter Username web
48. Enter Password web
49. Leave Domain blank and save password if you wish.
50. You should now see two arrows on the blue bar at the top of the screen indicating a connection. Two small arrows with a cross indicates not connected.

You have now created a GPRS Internet Access Service connection with both devices.

And on the first attempt I got it working, after about 10 hours of pulling my hair out.:approve: :approve:
