LG VX9800 from Verizon and Dell Axim internet still possible?
I've read post about people being able to connect their phone to the internet and send the signal to their pda. Is this still possible with Verizon Wireless? I've got the Bluetooth DUN to come up and tryed everything that I've read but keep getting wrong username and password.

I'm curious about this also. My cell phone is through Verizon and is bluetooth capable. I also subscribe to Verizon broadband service and have a pcmcia card for my laptop.
Someone has to be able to find a way to connect back to the internet...I hate Verizon for this stupid crap of theirs, its bad enough they remove certain things like part of the Bluetooth profile. Come on someone give us some good news please...$60 to $80 a month is outrageous for their broadband
EDIT: Wow Verizon is crap....http://www.evdoforums.com/forum-1.html has all kinds of articles about Verizon and their EVDO network and them cancelling peoples service, when my contract is up I think I'm gonna find another carrier.
I've been using my x51v and LG VX8100 to access the internet as well as my isp. Two things need to be done. First, you need to modify the DUN of the phone. For detailed information about doing this, I recommend howardforums. Second, you need to install the Widcomm BT stack that is discussed on Aximsite. I've been using version .50. Good luck on your phone.

Could you give me step-by-step instructions; I have a Axim x50v & a Verizon Palm Treo 700w?
I've been considering using a cable to connect my X30 low range to my LG VX9800 instead of the bluetooth because I understand the bluetooth profiles are intentionally limited to head sets and others so users must use what Verizon has to offer for data transfer. If you're curious here's the site. http://www.thesupplynet.com/faq.cfm?faqID=35
There should be no problem with the lg9800 I have used it as modem for almost a year. To get broadband speed you need to get the data plan from Verizon for 59 a month, then it works at about 550Kbs. Without it, you can use the phone as a modem and dial an ISP but you will be at a much slower speed.
OK.. I couldn't get access 11 months ago without the data plan. With data plan I get about 550Kbs and use it a lot, an hour or more a day, including now for this post while sitting in the eye doctor's office waiting.
When I first got my Axim X51v in July, I was very interested in this idea. However, after about two weeks of reading enough forums to make a man go blind, I ceased the pursuit. I stumbled back upon the idea recently as EVDO service came into the area I live in. I had already done some modifications to according to some other phone gurus months early, but when I tried to connect to my axim with my phone with bluetooth, once again no luck. This time I was determine to get it to work though since other people had it working for them. I was determined to attempt every combination known to man in the Axim settings, and ironically on the first try it worked. I preceded to adjust settings to get get the highest bandwidth. 440ish kbps. Anyways it worked. LG VX8100 V07. #777 mobilenumber@vzw3g.com vzw. It ended up being a certain combination I had missed once before under the advanced settings and perhaps the new EV signal could have affected the situation. If you want me to give you the exact settings, let me know.
Okay... to follow up on this thread I have a couple of questions and I hope someone can answer one or both (because after fairly extensive searching here and at HOFO I'm more confused than before):
1. What currently selling Verizon phones allow Axim Bluetooth tethering for EVDO access? (As easily as possible... no hacks would be preferred route...) Edit... I got this, I think - the VX9800 and the VX9900.
2. Will I have to modify my Bluetooth stack for this to be possible? (My concern here is that I recall that the Widcomm stack doesn't play well with my GPS...) Edit... CaptKen - my guess is you're the best one to answer this one, please!
Thanks.

I use standard out of the box bluetooth, no need to modify, although some have. I never felt like opening a new can of worms, if it works, don't change it. Phones that work are: LG9800 (the V phone), LG8600, the Nimt, the Chocolate, the 8300, and I think the Motorola Razr and probably the Samsung 930.

STM127,
I would like to know your exact settings if you can share them with us. I'm in the same boat. The EV signal just became available in my area. Just so I am clear, you have Verizon, but you did not need to pay for any monthly data plans as CaptKen has?
Some claim they get access with out paying for it. If so, I am happy for them, but I could not get it until I added the data plan. In fact I had called Verizon several times until I finally got someone that knew the scoop, and he said he would activate data plan and see if that worked. Within minutes, the settings that did not work, (always gave a unauthorized user error) instantly gave a connection. It seemed very understandable that Verizon did not provide Free Broadband access to Axim users, so I kept the data plan and did not mind paying for it, and I use it for my laptop and my Axim, and can even tether to my home computer if my DSL or Cable is out. Still there are some who claim they get it free, and that may be, but neither I nor a few others I know could get it free. I use the broadband access when I travel with my Laptop, instead of paying hotels for access, or for places where there is only a phone line. Verion gives you between 400 Kb/s and 550 Kb/s so it is 8 to 10 times faster than a dial up connection (but it can do that, too)
Settings are simple. You set the BT modem (discover your phone) and set it to dial #777 the user is ------(your 10 digit number) @ vzw3g.com and the password is vzw tell it to remember, and it works flawlessly. If you bring up Email program or internet explorer, it automatically connects. Be sure BT is enabled on the Axim and on the phone sometimes you have to go into the settings and tell it pc connection via BT. It defaults to PC connection by USB after you have it tethered to a Laptop and it has to be set back to BT. Hope that helps
I have an x30 and a VZW vx8300. I can connect via BT no problem, but the connection dies immediately and it claims my username and/or password are incorrect.
I dial #777 (no area or country code) 10DigitVerizonNumber@vzw3g.com is my username and I've tried both vzw and verizon as the password and neither has worked. I've left the "Domain" field blank.
When I try and run the connection I "Successfully Connect" but then I get a "Cannot connect" dialog bubble that says that my username or password is wrong and that I should check my local settings. I've tried BT encryption/authentication on/off and it has no effect (not that I'm surprised).
The external display on my 8300 briefly displays info about being connected to the EV network, usually for no more than ~7 seconds (presumably while it's trying to authenticate me). I'm beginning to guess that I'm just being blocked server-side by Verizon. Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve paying VZW ~$60?
