So far, the only problem I am having with my new x51v is the need to soft reset my unit before using the Dell Wlan utility to activate the Wifi radio. If I don't reset, the activation hangs. This will not occur immediately after a reset and before turning off the 51. I can use the Wlan utility as often as I want without problem. However, if I turn off the 51 and subsequently try turning on the Wifi radio either by the hardware button or the icon link on the screen, the utility will hang even though the green Wifi turns on and blinks. A soft reset is necessary at that point.
I am at wits end as to the cause of the problem. I have uninstalled the most likely culprits that may cause some problem such as Wisbar Advance 2, ilauncher, and Pocket Weather. I don't use Magic Button that I have read can cause problems with the utility.
I have done a hard reset and restore. But, that did not solve the problem. The problem does not occur after a hard reset and no other software is installed.
Anyone else with a similar problem? Any advice or suggestions?
Ok, I just needed to ask that to get a bit of a start,
But I don't think I can help.
Time difference from here to there means that someone from your end of the world might wake up and give you an answer before me, I need to sleep now, been a long day. But it will come.

Well, I believe I finally found the culprit for my problem. It is a ThinkOutside IR keyboard driver setting. I had the driver set to allow the keyboard coexist with the beaming function of the x51v. Once I turned off that function the wlan utility began working as expected.
It's way past my bedtime, so I'll have to test it out more thoroughly tomorrow.
I know it's been a long time since your last post, but at my end of the space-time continuum I am trying to troubleshoot the exact same problem.
Initially, I had both Magic Button and Thinkoutside keyboard driver installed, with IR coexist. My WLAN utility freezes just as you described.
Then I tried shutting off both MB and keyboard driver and didn't have a problem.
The next step I tried with only the keyboard driver running (no MB), and the WLAN utility performed flawlessly. I am 80% confident that the WLAN lockup isn't caused by the driver.
So, after almost a year, are you still having troublefree WLAN by disabling IR coexist?

Thanks!
THANK YOU!!! I was about to perform a hard reset when I saw your post. The WLAN hang with need to soft reset EACH time was driving me nuts. I unchecked the "coexist" button and bingo! Perfect performance.
