Yes, try the following procedure to set it up for wireless ActiveSync:

Wireless sync (Modified from Sevenfire’s post about half way down the first page on this thread)
1. First establish an ActiveSync partnership between your Pocket PC and your PC by using a USB, Serial, or IR link. Wireless ActiveSyncing is not possible without performing this step first.

2. You must enable network connections in ActiveSync on your PC. In the "File" menu of ActiveSync select "Connection Settings...". Then click on the check box next to "Allow network [Ethernet] and Remote Access Service [RAS] server connection with this desktop computer." Finally, click "OK".

3. Next you'll need to enable network ActiveSyncing on your Pocket PC. Start up the ActiveSync application on it. In the "Tools" menu, select "Options...". Then click on the check box next to "Include PC when synchronizing remotely and connect to:". Finally, enter the name of the PC you'll be syncing with in the text box below this line.

4. On the Axim, in Settings, Connections (tab), Connections, select Work Settings, Work Settings, Work.

Hello everyone,

I have just installed a Netgear CF card and I have followed the above instructions to sync remotely

My problems is that when I press sync, I connects as a guest!

Any ideas as to what might be going go here? I have tried renaming my Axim, but it still connects as a guest when I connect removetly, but works fine when connected via USB!

Paul

You should open ports 990,999 to the PPC and 5678 and 5679 to the PC. Protocol should be TCP.

I'm 90% sure of the direction, but if it doesn't work reverse it and let me know :D

Thanks all for the help. I almost have working right. But...

I had been trying to get this to work for months. Finally, I just disabled my Norton Personal Firewall and turned off the Win XP Home Edition built-in Firewall, and it worked great.

Question? How can I enable my Norton Firewall but configure it to allow this action?

NEVER MIND...I just tinkered with Norton and got it to allow AS to work-though.

Cool!!! Thanks again!

Yes

To stay connected after the syncing process is finished, on the Axim while not connected, tap Tools, Options, Schedule (tab), uncheck “When synchronizing remotely …”

Sure is. While you are in range of course. I can sit in a meeting and leave it continuously "syncing". So an email comes in and "beep" I get it on my Axim. Of course it's using battery pretty heavily so if it's a longer meeting I will sync manually as required. Depending how interesting the meeting is :)

Howard2K...where are the settings for the ports. I am using a router and XP and get guest. Do you setup the ports in the router? Also I read you have to enable netbios. What about UPnP?

Krock, Yep, you should enable NetBIOS under TCP/IP on the LAN interface. On XP I have no idea where to enable the port configuration. XP will be on my machine over my dead body. Sorry. Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.

Is you traffic actually being routed? Probably not. What address is on the PC and what address is on the PPC?

ports?

You may not need any ports opened. I have my MA701 on X5, SMC2435 on laptop (no firewall on XP SP1) both talking to an SMC2404 wifi router (firewalled here) setup to allow only certain MAC addresses to access each other and prevent others from accessing the internal network. Syncing via both 802.11b cards work quite a lot faster than USB.
