Why not use a cheap USB dongle with a short extention cord so that is flexible.

I am using a Zoom BT card in my work laptop to sync to my iPAQ.

Here is a link to the products page on Zoom's site.

Note: It is not 100% flush with the edge of the laptop, the little tab sticks out just a tiny bit. It does not stick out as much as a USB dongle does. I do leave it in my laptop, which travels in a laptop bag, causing no problems with the card.

I have a couple of BT PCMCIA cards and a 802.11g WiFi PCMCIA card. They all stick out a bit. I expect you actually want them to stick out a bit, so that the antenna is exposed. I also have a 4GB PCMCIA microdive that does fit flush against the side of the laptop.

A Socket bluetooth CF card sits flush in the slot. It's not a PCMCIA card, but would work with an adapter. Read about it at http://www.socketcom.com/product/BL4539-642.asp
