Question Bluetooth and ActiveSync problems

I am new to Bluetooth. I bought a Bluequest USB dongle for a notebook and an AmbiCom CF card for the Axim hoping to exchange information by Activesyncing. Does anyone know of a website/webpage that sets out in simple terms how to set up a Bluetooth/Activesync connection? The manuals I have for both products don't make it easy and seem to contradict each other with some of the information. I can sync using USB okay but feel I need a challenge!!
Does anyone have this configuration of products and managed to setup Activesync correctly? I know it is supposed to be easy but it just won't sync even though both products are paired with each other. The AmbiCom literature talks about setting up the Blue Neighborhood on the PC but because I have Bluequest installed instead, I don't have a Blue Neighborhood icon. My Bluetooth COM port (5) does not appear in the list of COM ports in ActiveSync on the desktop, only infra red. What am I doing wrong? Would it help removing both programs and starting from scratch?
Thanks for any information.

Well, I understand from other threads that Serial Port Profile is needed for Bluetooth synching and from the literature on the CD, this product does not support it.
Can anyone in the know tell me if this correct, it certainly seems as though I have no COM port options when trying to set it up?
I am returning it and getting a Belkin, perhaps better luck next time.
Thanks

You need to set up a serial port on PPC as CLIENT.
On PC on ActiveSync you select "allow connections from port x" where X represents the port number you have on the pc (look at your software. in my 3com software I think it's 4).

On PPC serial port is often called Bluetooth modem but that doesn't matter (on my anycom it's like that, I can select client under advanced options).
