Wireless AP broadcasts everything?

If I buy an Axim I will probably setup a wireless network at home as well. My current setup is three computers wired to a Netgear EN104TP hub, and the hub is connected to Netgear RT311 Gateway router and then to the Internet.

My idea is to buy a switch (ie. Benq 10/100 5 or 8-ports), and replace the Netgear hub because I'm out of ports, and then connect a Netgear ME102 access point to the switch.

With this setup, is all network communication being broadcasted or only wireless communication? In plain text, if I enter a password at say Hotmail from a wired computer, is that information also going out from the AP into the air?

Because your wired computers go through a switch (connected to your broadband router), and because your access point is basically a switch (or bridge) between your wired and wireless networks, it will not put wired-to-wired traffic over wireless.
The switch(es) will learn which systems are on which ports, and filter that traffic from other ports.

There will be some broadcast traffic that does propogate to the wireless network (ARP, SAP, BPDU, etc).

Even so, you still want to put wireless security controls in place (WEP, MAC filtering, no SSID broadcasts, etc).

Search for "security" in this forum. There is a big thread with some good information for securing your wireless network. There are more steps to take besides using WEP.
