hey guys, I am new here but plan on staying and giving any input I can on my new samsung i730. I saw a post about data, well there are 2 numbers that are setup in my pda, under "My ISP" I select ""AUTO"" next add 2 numbers Data network #777 next add QUICK Network #7772. I leave it on auto and have no problems, I have about 24 megs data this month along..it cost 44.99 a month for unlimited, and have a 700 minute cell phone plan..works great for me, have bluetooth, even added tv..now looking for a pgs bluetooth reciever. someone mentioned that they dont have 1xedvo, well mine does...its very fast, test at www.dslreports.com/mspeed. it will let you know how well your pc pocket phone is doing with verison, I average 500 to 700 here in corpus christi texas.
James Downing -- Howardforums has an indept discussion on tethering phones with PCs and PDAs. But to answer your question--your phone must be HACKED first before you can try to connect to Verizon's 1x or EVDO network internet PDA & Phone connection, hence the "Unauthorize user or wrong password" error message.
Google "10 Easy Steps To Enable EVDO on your Phone" on Howard Forums. And then follow the 35 pages of discussion afterwards. I'm waiting for my USB Data cable in order to follow the process so that I can enable my LG Chocolate to tether with my x51v for internet connection.
I tried that ten step thing a while ago and it never worked for me. In fact, I tried almost everything in the book and after reading hundreds of posts, this is the only thing I got to work.
Hope it helps :)
Tried the '10 Steps to Enable EVDO' on my LG Chocolate and wola!, it works. Motorolas always require some type of SEEM editing. That's why I gave up using a Moto.
Now, I can connect to the internet with my LG Chocolate and x51v. I even got Bitpim to work with the Chocolate to transfer Outlook contacts to my phone.
Must still work. I tried it and was able to connect just now. Here's how:
1. Pair the Axim with your cell phone
2. Tap Start-Settings-Connections Tab-Connections
3. Under "My ISP" tap "Add a new modem connection"
4. Enter a name for the connection--Verizon, or whatever
5. Under "Select a modem:", choose "Bluetooth"
6. Tap "Next"
7. In the list, choose your cell phone and tap to highlight it
8. Tap "Next"
9. Enter #777 as the number to dial and tap "Next"
10. As user name, enter yourcellphonenumber@vzw3g.com, i.e. 1234567890@vzw3g.com
11. For pasword, enter vzw. Leave domain blank
12. Tap "Finish". Now you are back on the "Connections" page
13. Tap "Manage existing connections"
(If you want to watch the progress of the connection attempt, then open your phone so that you can see the screen)
14. Tap and hold on the name of the connection you just set up
15. In the context menu, tap "Connect"
16. Cross your fingers, open your browser, and surf!
17. I hear that this goes against your minutes and there is no other charge, but don't blame me if they charge you $50.00 per minute. :-)
If I have listed the steps correctly, and if you have followed them correctly, then you will (hopefully) connect.
When I connected, I did not get any overt indication on the PDA that I was connected, but I was able to see on the phone screen that a connection had been made. I'm not exactly sure how you are supposed to disconnect. I just did it by turning Bluetooth off.
Good luck!

This is apparently an unpublicized "back door" kind of thing, and, if you want to keep on being able to do it, I would not call Verizon and ask them how. I really don't know much about it, so Google your questions, and you should find any answers you may need about the process.
I looked up a couple days ago about connecting my verizon phone to my axim 51v. I followed the steps listed above and did the #777. It showed me connected. When I got the verizon disclaimer saying I have read and accept and the charges would be 59.99 a month, then I closed out and discontinued.
Now when I am in a free wifi spot, this supercedes the wifi and I get the pop message saying unable to connect to the #777 verizon etc.
How can I get this to go away? Delete this connection?
