In desperation mode at this point . . . would like to get this card working for a trip to Italy next week.

Running and Axim X3 with Windows Mobile 2003. Purchase a Spectec SDW-821 new and installed drivers from the manufacturer's CD. Linksys Wireless B router with security turned off.

Axim is able to see my network but unable to connect. A bit nervous about the driver the cd installed because the although the card is marked b/g the driver is only labeled g. Also, no WLAN utility installed so I was unable to specific SSID channel, etc.

I have worked my way through the WiFi setup guide with no luck. Anyone got any suggestions?

I am happy to post additonal specs about the system if needed.

I wouldn't worry about the driver being labeled as 'G,' this is likely to differentiate it from the drivers for their SDW-820 (B-only) card. I am surprised that the drivers do not include a utility of some sort. Unfortunately, Spectec does not have a manual for this card on their site so there's no way for me to determine how the card and/or drivers are supposed to work.

The best I can do at this point is direct you to the WM03 section of the WiFi Guide: Initial PPC setup - Windows Mobile 2003. I hope it helps some.

I had the 820 card. Your problem may be related to the type of encryption you're using on the network, WM2003 doesn't support WPA. You need to use WEP.

Hey I know you had this issue awhile back, but were you ever able to get your spectec sdio card working on your axim x3? I have an axim x3 in which the internal wifi broke, so I bought a spectec sdio wlan b card (820 model) and I cannot get it to work. It works fine on my windows 2003 second edition iPAQ hx2000 model. I was wondering if this card does not work with windows 2003 (first edition)? Thanks

That's the same card I have and it should work with WM2003 for Pocket PC (1st Edition). You may need to download different drivers. That's what I had to do with mine.
