I can not seem to QUITE stream MP3's over my TrueMobile 802.11 wireless (LinkSys) connection. Even things like Audio Books tend to cut out every few seconds while the player "re-buffers".
I don't think this is necessarily a wireless problem, maybe more of a memory allocation issue?
Can anyone suggest an MP3 player that may be more forgiving?
It is SO close to working, but I can't really enjoy it the way it is. It would be fantastic to be able to stream content from my W2K server!
Thanks!
Please don't crosspost the same thread in multiple forums. I'll leave it in the Wireless forum, and delete all multiple threads. This just helps to keep the answers all in one place, and keep things neat. Thanks.

I'm not on wireless yet (next week i will be).. but what player are you using? can you increase the buffer (e.g. like with pocketMVP)? I'd like to know the answer to this also, considering i'll be streaming mp3s soon enough.
how exactly do you stream them? do you simply have a mapped network drive on your axim pointing to your mp3 folder (or drive ..) on your pc?
I have used NetRunner to access a shared drive, then it opens in Windows Media Player.
I have also used Pocket MVP which, I believe, let me access the file directly.
Both apps acted about the same with about 5 seconds of audio, then a couple seconds silence while it buffered.
I have not seen anything within the apps to set buffers, at least nothing that seemed to help.
I use Shoutcast thru Winamp 2 to broadcast over my wireless network (d-link 614+ and D-Link wireless CF) and I pick up the stream using GSPlayer. It does a GREAT job of streaming all of my mp3`s. If you are looking for the easiest way, this just may be it.
I've never used GSPlayer, but I just installed it and will try it when I get home. I have also never used WinAmp 2 for broadcasting - how do you "pick up the stream" - is it a URL at that point?
problem with shoutcast is you have no control over what you want to hear, since it's constantly streaming. I'd like to be able to skip to different tracks, pause etc... is shoutcast the only way to get streaming working well?
Yeah... is there a freeware program to be able to open mp3s on another computer over the network... i can see the files with fileexplorer but i cant open them, i have to copy them over to the axim to play them..
I tried WithMP3 this weekend and I have to say, it worked great. I was able to stream audio content from my server with VERY little dropouts or re-buffering.
I still could not access the remote files from directly within the program, though.
Luckily, when I installed it, MP3 files were re-associated with WithMP3 so when I opened a file in NetRunner, it opened in WithMP3. THis will be a problem when I want to create playlists, though.

Yes, you click on open then type "Computername/theshared folder" but you cant open the files there, you have to copy them to the axim to be able to open them. To open them you should download netrunner.
