hadn't heard anything. Wouldn't that require firmware changes? Isn't WPA an 802.11g thing?

WPA is for 802.11a, b or g. It's an update/replacement for WEP, part of the forthcoming 802.11i subset.

I posted this question on the Dell support forum ...

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...d=aximwireless

But I seem to be ignored?

I don't get it .. this is a VERY important feature that needs immediate attention from their side.

Well.... It's acutally not an IEEE Standard, it's just something that the wi-fi allliance is trying to push. WEP is fairly well broken and WPA fixes that, but it's not 802.11i yet and without IEEE backing I wouldn't be expecting the same push.

I'm sure we'll see something soon, I wouldn't be holding my breath though.

Have you just bought a new router? What's your urgent need for it?

Well since it is much more secure and almost every other network device supports it, it extremely annoying that I cannot use it because of my PDA!!!

This must be soo easy to implement, just some handshaking additions to the protocol.

As I said Annoying :)

Most devices after August 2003.. I haven't seen many mass upgrades coming out though. I know DLink has made upgrades available for it's enterprise stuff... But I have a Linksys WCF12 and I'm not holding my breath.. WEP is still not bad and by rotating keys you can get around the issue.. Just need to count yoru packets and when you get to 15,000-20,000 change keys :)
