Has anyone ever replicated over the internet? I have it replicating via wireless so that part is working. I admin the firewall so I can punch holes in it but I don't know what ports to open.
Ok - I'm too lazy to find what ports to open so I'd thought I would check first before I had to actually do it.
I AS over VPN. Works ok and bypasses the need to open ports on the f/w. There are 4 ports you need, can't remember the numbers but these guys can help:
can anyone tell me what you are talking about? im new to this stuff, its late (early)... and i must read and understand everything before i can go to bed... otherwise i get the nightmares
I have a WiFi connection at work (not behind a firewall) How do I Synch with my laptop at home? My laptop is running Windows XP and I have a Netgear router that is always on with a static IP address. I set up an Incoming Connections for VPN but cant connect to the VPN. I can however Terminal Service in to my laptop. HOW do I get Active Synch to Work?

Couldn't you just tell AS to sync up with a server...give the server IP address of your firewall with port X and then have that redirect to your IP address out on the internet. I assume you syncing to your home computer so then if it is behind a router (I know that you can do this with Linksys) either set up the PC that you want to sync with as being on your DMZ or just redirect traffic from your firewalls internet address directly at your home PC.
If you are just trying to get out to the internet just do a from AXIM IP to INTERNET = ALLOW type of ACL
I just verified that my VPN does not work. I am using a netgear router and my ports are forwarded to my laptop. I am able to TS in from my PDA. I added the ports 900-999 and 5679 and 5679 and I can get my Laptop's Activesync to say connecting to my Axim, but then I get an AS error that says "Critical Communications services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device, and then connect again." Any ideas?
